The first female gardeners employed at London's Kew Gardens. Eleanor Morland, Gertrude Cope and Alice Hutchings. Photographed in 1896.
I've been watching Fanny Hill. It has Edward Hardwicke in it but he hasn't appeared yet. There are only 2 episodes. I watched the first last night and no quokka. The thing is, I'm really struggling to see how he's going to fit into the whole Fanny Hill milieu. I just can't imagine it. The show's rather debauched. I will watch episode 2 tonight and report back.
Incidentally, it has Philip Jackson in it who plays Japp in Poirot, and he's quite monstrous
Ok, reporting back . . . Edward Hardwicke plays an adorable character, but he's only in it for a few minutes. The show was made in 2007, so he looks quite old, but excellent use is made of those kind eyes.
I don't know how faithful it all is to the book, because I haven't read it, but overall I found the show an enjoyable 2hr romp with an Edward Hardwicke garnish.
His tag isn't #the dark side with kind eyes for nothing!
Quite right. You should see those eyes in this show, omg
I found him!
Who allowed him to still be so cute at 75? How is that fair on our poor hearts? The quokka magic is truly too strong. I love him so, so much!
(The pictures are rubbish because I had to take a picture of a screen)
granada's the red-headed league (1984 episode 12) has many outstanding moments, but this may be the best

Sherlock Holmes was definitely a product of his time. Youβre telling me this whimsical man wasnβt hanging out with divas. Misogynistic Holmes is just wrong.
come onπmention my favourite characterπi am well adjustedπand will act very normalπi assure youπ
who has time to be straight when you could spend your time solving mysteries with your flatmate instead

see where things go from there

An Archive of Our Own, a project of the Organization for Transformative Works
This is pretty off my beaten track, plot-wise, but I'm having fun writing it.

Always the cutest smile
Yes, this is just because I can't stop thinking about his smile. No, I don't care. If I have to think about the quokka and his adorable smile on the daily, so do all of you. You're welcome
Mr Bennett drew a little diary book from his pocket. 'That was on July 2nd,' said he. 'You are certainly an admirable witness,' said Holmes.
"The Creeping Man," Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
Things that work in fiction but not real life
torture getting reliable information out of people
knocking someone out to harmlessly incapacitate them for like an hour
jumping into water from staggering heights and surviving the fall completely intact
calling the police to deescalate a situation
rafting your way off a desert island
correctly profiling total strangers based on vibes
effectively operating every computer by typing and nothing else
ripping an IV out of your arm without consequences
heterosexual cowboy
This post breaching containment has taught me that a lot of people seem to think they can accurately profile complete strangers. For the record, no the fuck you can't.
βjune is over so now itβs gay wrath monthβ blah blah reminder that july is disability pride month and is often ignored and disregarded!! funnel that wrath into advocating for your disabled peers and amplifying their voices
Iβm always like ohoho a new sherlock post AND ITS THE BBC RUN. NOT ENOUGH GRANADA OR BOOKS FANART.

This thick ass book
Thinking a lot about how the appeal of ghost stories is the idea that even if your life goes up in an instant, some part of you still endures, forever changed but forever still there to tell people who you were. That you lived. That you loved. That you mattered.
