“Perfect, if I’m not able to show you the beauty of battling then I’m afraid I have failed as a trainer.” Cai tells with a dramatic sigh. Thinking to himself, since she wants to experience the thrill of battling, which Pokemon should start the battle?

“Before we begin let’s get acquainted with each other. I’m Cai, Kalos Elite Four and Fairy specialist. Now, would you rather a single battle or a double battle?” Giving her the choice, hopefully she’ll choose whichever will appeal to her the most. His hand reaching down to his pokeballs, yet stopping himself until the other trainer makes the first move. How trainer acts before a battle will tell a lot about what kind of trainer they are. Regardless of her decision, Cai was already strategizing how the battle might go down. If she wants interesting, she better get ready.

              she once knew the beauty of battle all too well. he has no need in trying to tell her it. it simply disappeared for her, and if this battle wouldn’t get it back (what, with all his confidence that he can, lets hope his actions can lend to his own words!), then nothing really will. she has to hope.

              a member of the elite four? she’s.. challenging a member of the elite four? not even the elite four of her own region at that! perhaps his words to hold up to his actions. fairy types weren’t too common in the sinnoh region, so now she’s double curious.               “ MY NAME IS AKARI, i’m the fourth gym leader of hearthome city. “ she pauses to think of whether she wants a single battle or a double battle. while her gym battles were strictly single, she never disliked double battling when she got the chance. “ I THINK THAT a single battle will be for the best. “

“I don’t think we really have what it takes.” Kenta answered, motioning a hand towards his Hippowdon who, as content as he seemed while wearing it, looked a little out of place with a brightly coloured bow on his head.

                 “ ARE YOU KIDDING me ? anyone can do it ! “ akari laughs lightly, leaning back down to pull the far too bright bow off the hippowdon’s head. “ PERHAPS we should try something a little.. tougher looking though ... “

               “ COME ON, COME ON ! it’ll be fun if you at least try out a contest or two ! “

“I see where you’re coming from, but every time you battle it’s almost like you paint a piece of art. Each battle is unique, yet equally beautiful. The most amazing thing about battles though is the fact that you and your Pokémon work together in harmony which is an art in and of itself.” He tries to explain his passion to the girl in front of him. Battling has always been the only consistent thing in his life, but unfortunately his profession is something that isn’t very easily explained.

“If you still don’t understand I would love to show you the beauty of a battle right now if you’re willing.”

                “ THEY USED TO be like that, but now they just.. all look monochrome to me now. battles aren’t colourful and unique, or interesting anymore. it’s all repetitive. “ it’s clear that she has a different opinion to this bright haired man, but she never realised she’d have to say what she really thought out loud. “ I MEAN, AFTER working in battling for over a year now, i suspected it might get boring to me, but i never thought that it would end up like this so soon.. it’s really strange. “

she pauses, understanding that he’s offering to challenge her to a battle. admittedly, it might be a fun thing to try, but she doesn’t exactly know the strength of her opponent. .. that might be fun, though.

                “ BUT DON’T YOU think that sometimes.. battling gets repetitive ? like, sometimes it’s tiring, and it’s so.. frequent. you battle, someone looses. you battle, someone looses. “

Poffin making was not a tradition well known in Kalos. Berries, well known for their affect on the appearance of pokémon when prepared a special way, were more often presented in the form of a smoothie or a juice than mixed into the small, cube-shaped treats.

So, upon finding himself inside one of the buildings where these brightly coloured berry snacks were prepared, Avery found himself itching to try it out.

With a few select berries wrapped up in cloth, the pink-haired trainer was about to and figure out how the entire mixing process was started, when he was approached by a girl with hair a similar bright shade to his own, sporting a cutesy apron and a single cookie which she appeared to be offering to him.

“Ah?” Taking the snack as prompted, Avery eyed the girl curiously before bringing the cookie up to his mouth, nibbling cautiously at the edge. This did nothing to save him from the strong spicy flavouring of the snack, violet eyes widening slightly as he covered his mouth with the back of his other hand, suppressing a cough.

“Perhaps… Perhaps it’s a personal taste thing, but it’s… Awfully intense.”

              judging by his reaction, it might’ve been a bit too spicy. she frowns at this, and lightly holds out her hand for him to give back the nibbled on cookie.

a sigh leaves her lips, she finds this to be an utter disappointment and runs over it in her head for a few brief moments, trying to think on whether this was just a tastebud difference or whether she should actually chuck them all out and just simply.. retry it again.

              “ SO IT’S tastes bad ? like.. intense as in it’s too spicy or something ? “ akari attempts to look as though she wasn’t frowning, forcing her face into a questioning stare up at the taller of the pair (quite hard, when she was focusing on the fact his hair was practically the same, violent shade of pink her own hair was!)

       Marie was off and doing her usual cleaning of the newly established gym. It was a considerably large task taking the size of the building into account. Hence, she usually set aside an entire day to complete it. Most trainers never come by for a battle on this day anyway. If one happened to come by, however, she wouldn’t have any problem taking a quick break. 

     Irregular footsteps could soon be heard outside the gym’s entrance. Perhaps some trainer did want to stop by? 

                     A loud, feminine voice echoed throughout the large space. It made Marie jump a bit before bursting closer to the door. 

        “yep, yep! I’m right here! Did you come for a gym battle?” 

Her smile looked a bit too enthusiastic. 

she takes in the appearance of the girl, a rather cute thing indeed. so this was the gym leader? akari smiles, before shaking her head lightly and takes a few more steps closer to the girl.

                  “ I’M NOT A TRAINER here for a battle, unfortunately. i actually came to see how the new gym in kalos was doing while passing through. “ the leader laughs, brushing pink hair away from her face. “ THOUGH, I WOULDN’T mind a battle if you’re looking for something to do. “

taking in the appearance of the gym, she had to be impressed. it was well cleaned and taken care of, something she often needed to remind the gym trainers at her own gym to do well.

                  “ STILL, YOU’VE taken quite good care of this place ! i’m really impressed. “ she crosses her arms over her chest, and can’t be bothered fixing the loose strands of hair from her twin tails.  “ I WAS UNDER THE impression that the new gym in kalos was going to be a little more unprofessional than this for a while until they had the ropes down. you’ve pleasantly surprised me. “

                 “ --- WAAH, it’s so rare that i have enough time to indulge in my foods.. “ despite her cutesy, sweet personality and appearance, akari’s favourite foods had always been spicy or sour, the sugary taste never exactly right on her tongue when it wasn’t her own words. so she ended up making spicy ginger cookies. 

adjusting the frilled apron she wore, her entire excuse for being inside the poffin house in the first place was because she had meant to cook more of the treats for her personal and work teams, as a sort of ‘ good job ! ‘. for moral. she’ll probably do that after finishing her own baked treats.

but she needed someone else to judge her food for her.

her eyes scan the poffin house before laying them on a man, running over to him with a cooky in hand. he would have to do. she just needed confirmation from someone other than herself o her pokémon that it tasted alright.

✜ describe their hands

her hands, while thin with long fingers, are actually of an average size despite the fact they seem to be rather large from afar ( mostly due to said fingers ), and they have small scratches and scars over them.

❤ describe how they show affection

                 akari’s actually enjoying her trip to kalos thus far. going to the upper parts of the region where it seems to be a lot colder is very enjoyable, reminding her of her own home extraordinarily. she’d also heard plenty about a gym being build in the small town of dendemille town a couple of years back, though the exact date or year she didn’t know.

thus, curiosity had taken over and she’d taken a left turn and gone off track to see.

                  shoes tap lightly against the concrete sidewalk, taking every corner to find this gym. she was really, really curious. she just wanted to see it and meet the gym leader. that was about it. 

she enters the gym.

                                   “ EX---CUSE ME ! ! is the gym leader                                       available ? “
