Graceful Grace

Keith could feel his mind beginning to wander and his thoughts all seemed to be concerning Grace. Contrary to popular belief, she didn’t fit the criteria of what he’d heard of her, nor what he’d seen of her on the show. She was the opposite, if anything. She seemed sweet, misspoken and for some odd reason vulnerable. From those qualities alone, Keith could feel his fatherly side kicking in and he tried to reach out to the girl.

She smiled at Keith her heart beating a little harder when he invited her to the back. She nodded and smiled "I would love too! Except tea isnt really my thing...Do you have a juice box?" She asked laughing quietly looking down.

She smiled knowing he had heard about her. Grace knew people would either think of her two ways a bitch or a sweetheart. She smiled brightly when he said there were books on games and crafts, her excitement taking over her as she hugged him “Yay! Where! Where?” She exclaimed smiling.

Keith watched as the girls face was set alight in excitement prompting him to chuckle when she hugged him and lent into his shoulder. Keith had to flatten his lips to disguise his smile as he returned the hug just a little, his arms enclosing around her waist lightly, giving it a small squeeze. He then released her and his eyes shifted to the far right side of the library, “Come on, I’ll show you.” Keith offered, another smile spreading across his lips. “So are you really a big reader or were you just looking for an excuse to talk to me?” Keith teased as the two headed towards the section of books. This was one of the first times she’d approached him and been so kind and affectionate. So, he couldn’t pass up the offer to ask and clear it up.

Keith smiled in-spite of himself and when she introduced herself with her immaculately manicured hand out ready for a hand shake he’d come to the realization on who she was. He’d spoken to quite a few students who’d had a not-so-nice run in with this particular girl but she seemed harmless enough to him. “Keith, Keith Hunt.” Keith extended his arm to shake hands with her, only shortly as in the latter he didn’t want to seem too forward.

I don’t even know you and we’re going on a homicide mission.

I hate getting up early for school,

There was something about working at the library, of all places, that always put Keith in a good mood these days. Perhaps it was the comforting scent of both old and new books that laced the air, but also the sheer silence and youthful faces that made him feel happy-go-lucky almost all the time. Or maybe it was the bit where, every morning, he got to be the first one on the scene besides the principle since he had the most experience out of the Liberians in concerns of working. Or maybe it’s just the fact that he likes to work, as odd as that sounds.
