"playing soldier little bee? Don't you know you'll only hurt yourself using that stinger?" Beatrix was surprised the woman hadn't turned tail at the very sight of her, surely a taunt would suffice.
"you... You're the witch. This isn't any of your business leave me be and I'll do you the same" Amara had heard stories of the Witch in the woods since she was but a child. She knew she was dangerous, but she didn't falter, she was still a person and she could be reasoned with.
"A brave one aren't you? And what is this business of yours that brings you so deep into the forest it may swallow you whole?" She approached closer to the woman, getting sight of her blonde hair and noble features. This was a woman of status, and if not apparent on her face it showed in her stance.
"I'm here for the beast in these woods, it's gone too far. I've come to slay it" as the witch approached closer Amara could better view the features hid under the brim of her hat. Long dark hair and a beautiful face unlike the decrepit woman she had been led to believe lived in the woods. She even appeared close to her own age, with a few years her senior, though she knew better that the witch was older then she appeared.
"A beast?" Beatrix was surprised, had something braved her spell to seek havoc? Or did the creature not feel any kind of fear? Regardless whatever it was, the woman before her stood no chance, and she had a brew to get back to. "Whatever it is you seek, I can assure you it is more than you can handle. I will take care of it. Run home little bee before you get squashed"
"No." Amara refused to falter. "I swore to myself I would not return home until the beast is slain."
Beatrix sighed and with a quick swipe of her staff, Amara fell from underneath her own feet. "You lack the skill to take on whatever your quarry is. Break your oath and return home with your life."
Amara picked herself back up wiping the dirt from the blade of her sword with the ends of her tattered dress. "I cannot. I need to see this through, or else I'm not worthy of my name"
Beatrix felt a tug on her heart, she could not ignore a plea that was like hers so many many years ago. "Fine. I will assist you with the beast before the sun is up. But first I have other matters to attend to"
"I said I won't return ho-"
"and you won't. You'll come with me to mine, and after my matters are resolved, we will slay your beast"
Amara hesitated "how do I know you are not luring me into a trap?"
"whatever beast you seek evaded my gaze and was able to ignore the protections I have cast upon our side of the forest. I wish to see it slain as much as you. And if I were to be the beast? You would have to have me regardless. You might as well let me lead to to my lair so you can reap the Spoils of your victory"
Amara lowered her sword "fine. But you'll lead the way and don't even think about trying anything"
"it will be my pleasure" Beatrix curtsied and turned to trod the path back home, Amara following at a safe distance.
