CATMAN!!! I've missed you!
[ Someone small crashes into Tim's back holding onto him tightly. ]
I missed you! Well, not really you, I miss Lady Bat, and wherever you are, she is. What happened? And! And! You're going to help me call Lady Bat a big meanie because I had to go find her instead of her finding me! And and then we can get bat burgers
[ The kid rambled into Tim before pulling back a little rubbing green gloves at her eyes. ]
Your new Costume's weird.
@gothams-dancing-robin
“Oh uhm hey there kid!” Tim says peeking over his shoulder to try to get a good luck at whatever kid tackled him. It definitely wasn’t one of the street kids he’s befriended. Is that a Robin?
“Catman? Close enough to Stray, I guess. You’re Robin?”
[ Robin hesitated, one hand still gripping onto Tim's costume like she thought he was going to disappear if she let go, but she let go, slowly. This wasn't Catman. The voice was wrong, the rhythm all off. Catman was grating and odd, but in a way that reminded her of the clowns back at the circus, familiar, theatrical, and strangely kind. He'd teased Lady Bat, mocked her, but even in retreat, he always checked she was okay. This person? Different. She studied Tim, and for a moment, her composure cracked, and for a second, she looked like she was about to cry before roughly wiping her face against her gloves and stepping back. ]
You're not—
[ Robin took a shaky breath. ]
Yeah. Yeah, I'm Robin. And you're... Stray. Not Catman. Right. Sorry.
Tim noticed that she looked like she was gonna cry. Shit. “No, no it’s okay. I’m not upset with you. You said Lady Bat? Like Batman. Okay uhm,” Tim pauses to take in a deep breath.
“I assume you’re lost. You’re okay. You’re safe with me. Are you hungry? You mentioned Batburger.”
I don't know who Batman is, but everyone else knows who that is and acts as if I should know, but I don't, and there have been other people on the safe houses that Lady Bat told me to go to if I ever didn't know what to do, and I don't know who they are either. And I don't know what's happening!
Yeah.. Please can we get batburger?
It’s okay kiddo. You’ll be safe with me. We’ll figure out what’s going on, okay? Until then stay with me. I’m Stray, a vigilante. I gather up evidence for the GCPD and other vigilantes to use. Also fight crime the traditional vigilante way too.
We can definitely go to Batburger! I was gonna have a snack soon anyways.
[ She nodded and held onto Tim's Costume again. ]
I can do that. 'm sorry I called your costume weird.
... I can help with your vigilante stuff! I'm good at it! I've been helping Lady Bat for almost 2 years so I won't get in the way or nothing!
“You were expecting someone else in a different costume. It would be weird to see something you weren’t expecting.” Tim says as he leads her to the closest Batburger. “You can help if you want.”
Tim thinks on who and what Lady Bat may be. The name suggests that it is a woman version of Batman. “I have an odd question for you Robin, but just work with me here. What gender is The Joker and The Flash?”
YESS!! I promise I'll be helpful! Pinky promise!
[ That seemed to cheer her up a lot. Made sense, it would feel good to do something even slightly familiar with someone else when the whole word seemed backwards. She was skipping beside him now. ]
Um, girls? I haven't interacted with them too often. Lady Bat says she doesn't want me to deal with the Joker if I don't gotta...
And The Flash is apparently a "bad influence" but she's a hero! How can she be a bad influence if she's a hero!
“I’m sure you’ll be very helpful Robin.” Tim smiles at her before turning serious. He remembered what happened to Robin II/Jason. “Good. Stay away from The Joker if you can. If you see a boy version of him run and come find me or a man dressed as a bat.”
Tim was coming up with a theory in his mind. Robin seems to come from some alternate reality. He goes back to smiling at her. “How old are you? I’m 16.”
[ She rolled her eyes and groaned. ]
You're a worrywart like Lady Bat! The boy Joker can't be that dangerous. The Joker doesn't even really hurt people much anymore. Just like threatens to until Lady Bat shows up so they can fight. A says she just wants the attention and Lady Nat's okay with humoring her as long as people aren't in too much danger.
Um 10, why?
“The Joker, the boy one, tortured and killed a 15 year kid as a ‘joke’. That’s why I want you to run from him,” Tim explains.
“10? Hm interesting.” It lined up for when Dick Greyson became Robin. Is she a gender bent version of Dick Greyson?
He opens the door to Batburger for them and walks in. “Get whatever you want. I’ll pay.”
He did what
Why would—
That doesn't make sense. The Joker knows Lady Bat wouldn't tolerate that. Something about it's not fun when Lady Bat plays dirty? The Joker tried to threaten Gotham Academy once and Lady Bat almost killed her for it! And that was for a Threat! She didn't get a chance to do anything yet!
[ Robin's hands were going as she spoke just to show how big of a deal that should have been. ]
Thank you.
[ She said as Tim held the door for her. ]
... Can I get a bat-mite meal?
“I’ll explain this whole mess once we get food. Probably best to pair it with a snack.”
“You can even get a shake with the bat-mite meal if you wanted, Robin,” Tim told her as he led her up to the register.
[ Robin ordered a bat-mite meal and a small strawberry shake for herself. She didn't want to be too selfish on someone else's dime.. She was just excited to not have to have the gross safe house Boyardee ravioli anymore. Normally she didn't mind then but that was all she had been eating for a week now because her emergency card doesn't work here and the just in case 50 Lady Bat gave her was apparently "obviously fake". ]
Thank you
Tim also orders himself a bat-mite meal too. He also ordered a coffee. “Anytime. I won’t let you go hungry and I have plenty of money to spare.”
He grabs the food for them and has them sit down far away from the counter. He didn’t necessarily want the employee to accidentally hear something they shouldn’t. “Are you familiar with the concept of a multiverse at all?”
[ Dixie sat across from Tim taking her meal quickly. She never thought she'd be so happy to have batburger of all things. ]
Um a little bit. The Justice League delays with that kind of stuff. It's why Lady Bat has to entrust Gotham to A and I sometimes.
Tim eats some of his fries. “Alright great! That makes things easier. I believe you somehow traveled universe. There’s no Lady Bat here, but there’s a Batman. Our Joker and Flash are boys, not girls. I have never directly worked with universes before. I only knew they existed from hacking the Batcomputer. “
And your Joker's meaner.
[ She added before taking a bite from her burger. That made since kinda. It at the very least made sense as to why none of her stuff worked her and why names didn't match faces.. ]
I thought you'd like.. Know if you hopped to another universe? Isn't there supposed to be some big portal or massive event or something? Lady Bat always told us before going away..
“Way meaner. I do not like him at all,” Tim takes a sip of his coffee and eats some of his burger.
“I’m not a 100% sure. I can hack into the Batcomputer to take another look into the multiverse files. My current guess is that maybe you accidentally fell through a smaller portal or an event happened near you.”
So Lady Bat and A are probably going crazy trying to find me..
[ Robin groaned dramatically putting her head down on the table and regretting it instantly. The table was Sticky. ]
That's not faaaaaair! When Lady Bat goes to other dimensions she gets to do cool things and help loads of people! I got to eat Boyardee Ravioli in a closet and laughed out of a convenience store...
“Well you can still do cool things like Lady Bat. You can fight crime with me until we find a way back to your universe or Lady Bat and A come get you.” Tim had a temporary Robin. Now to make sure Batman doesn’t see her and freak out. And to definitely keep her away from Joker at all costs.
“You don’t have to answer this, but is your last name Greyson?”
[ Dixie shoved a few fries in her mouth as he decided whether or not she wanted to answer that. Stray already had access to the Batcave so she guess he already knew who they were. He's one of the good guys. Besides he'd probably be able to tell who her the equivalent here was once she took off her domino... She swallowed and nodded. ]
If you're going to call me by a real name, I prefer Dixie.
“It’s good to meet you, Dixie. I’m Tim Drake,” he gives her his secret identity in turn. Assuming there was a counterpart of him in her universe, she’d figure it out the moment he brought her home. He continued to eat his food.
“What toy did you get?” Tim asks as he opens up his toy. Ah Batman.
It's nice to meet you too, Tim
[ She thought for a moment the Drake name was familiar. She thinks she— the toddler. There was a look that could really only be described as horror on Dixie's face as she looked at the almost adult in front of her and not the like 4 maybe 5 ish year old baby she'd hang out with at Galas. ]
You're supposed to be little. Like little little. Not in school yet little.
[ Dixie really didn't like the thought of teeny tiny Thea being older than her. ]
Oh yeah! The toy!
[ Dixie dug out the toy from under a bunch of bag fries and frowned at the blue and back figure in the bag. ]
I have no idea..
“My version of you, Richard “Dick” Greyson, is in his 20s. I guess it makes sense that I would be little in your universe.”
Tim looks at her toy and tells her who it is. “Oh that’s Nightwing! Dick became him when he wanted to be his own vigilante. He fights crime in Bludhaven.”
Oh. That makes sense.
My version of you is named Timothia Drake and every time you introduce yourself you clarify that it's Timothia with ia not ea. I call you Thea though. Sometimes you come back with us from Gala or you just appear in our backyard and scare Alice. Alice really doesn't like the Drakes, she claims their incompetent except for Thea.
[ Dixie opens up the plastic around the toy like she was inspecting it. ]
... So blue
Why didn't I stay Robin?
“Well my parents do have a certain way of doing things. I can understand Timothia wanting her name spelt correctly.”
Tim takes another sip of his coffee. “I don’t know the whole thing, but something about wanting more independence as you got older. Plus Batman got another kid that could take up as Robin.”
Alice doesn't like them. She won't let Thea ho Hine unless she sees someone at the house or someone comes and gets her.
[ Dixie started blowing bubbles in her now melty milkshake ]
I am independent as Ro—what? No. Robin's mine. It's my mama and tati's name for me! Someone else can't just decide to be Robin. That's not— That's not right. Robin's not his to give away!
CATMAN!!! I've missed you!
[ Someone small crashes into Tim's back holding onto him tightly. ]

@gothams-dancing-robin

@gothams-dancing-robin
Thank you
CATMAN!!! I've missed you!
