I don't know if this is true for everybody, but i always grew up under the impression that phonecalls were unpleasant and unnecessary and the only people who called you were like your family and it was annoying and inconvenient every time. And I'm starting to think that this was like a highly specific cultural phenomena starting with millennials and extending into early gen z and not actually normal at all. Because it seems like every generation before us was yapping in that phone the second they existed, and the generation immediately after mine is yapping in that damn phone every chance they get and a lot of them find text messages to be the stressful/annoying communication. And like, idk, I'm generalizing a LOT from a small sample. But this is what I have observed.
