Hello! (Absolutely no worries everywhere- We are relaxing and answering!) Thank you so much for everything nice you have said, we appreciate your kind words! When it comes to designing characters for myself, I think about what I am looking for. I usually begin by figuring out what I'm looking for. (A desired character, theme, aesthetic- It's so funny, I'm usually fulfilling some kind of want!) Then I gather all of the concepts, themes, aesthetics, inspirations, and various color palette to establish what I want to create. (Maybe something you are interested in, maybe something you don't know anything about yet!) I recommend Research, if you are inclined to! Find color palettes through toys, magazines, fashion, television- Whatever it is! Then you create various designs, expanding on your ideas with what COULD be your final design! I think it is important to remember to be as loosey goosey as you like! Don't focus on the perfect design, focus on the exploration of it! You will find it amongst many drafts, or maybe even a few! It also helps to have friends around too- Bouncing ideas off one another, even as a joke, can unearth what you're looking for! This is my process, and it can be a lot of fun! Remember to relax, too!
