thanks for tagging me @ghostoffuturespast 🖤
I have been noodling on a silvervdyne fic idea but all I have are notes and random snippets of stuff that might turn into scenes at some point, not even an outline yet, so nothing I want to share at this point. I was going to try and write it for a fic challenge that's running in April but I think it may need more time to simmer in my brain and on the page.
I've been really hyperfixated on my patio garden lately. That's been my WIP the past several weeks. We had a few invasive trees/shrubs that overtook the dirt corners of the patio last spring/summer and it's been an absolute battle trying to get rid of them. We had one tree professionally removed but I've been doing the rest myself.
This is the 'before' of one side of the patio. Believe it or not, there are actually 3 tables and 3 bikes in this photo.
After chopping that shrub down to the root and even pulling some of its roots right out of the ground, taking two of the tables to the dump, and getting rid of a bunch of old potting soil and other detritus, this is the 'after':
Two of the bikes are gone now too. I finally have my potting station back! And a bunch of the pots now have fresh soil and seeds planted in them now too.
I forgot to take a before pic of the other half of the patio, but I replaced my 10+ year old patio chairs with some new ones, cleaned up a bunch of clippings and green waste left from the tree removal, and got rid of a bunch of old pots I wasn't going to use. Also removed a bunch of cobwebs from the fencing, cleaned and restrung the lighting, and pulled a bunch of weeds. This is the 'after':
Still have a lot of weeds and wild blackberry vines (the bane of my existence) to get rid of in the dirt patch behind the chairs, but that's also where the tree was so this is still so much better than it was. I'm planning on planting sunflowers and some native wildflowers back there once it's cleared out. So far I've planted tomatoes, peas, radishes, jalapenos, green onions, basil, mint, cilantro, and chives. And some nasturtiums. Also a bunch of lettuces and arugula, which just started sprouting today!
There are already so many more sprouts since I took that pic this morning.
Once I start getting more green things popping up I'll take more pics and update this post... so if anyone's interested in my little patio container garden, look forward to that lol. I've got a raised planter to set up and fill with more plant babies this weekend...
Anyway, I have no idea who else was already tagged in this so I'm not going to tag anyone in particular, but if any of you see this and want to do it and tell me about your WIP(s), consider yourself tagged!
