Depends what you mean "primitive method". Making olive oil hasn't changed drastically over the curse of thousands of years. The difference is that the press nowadays simply presses the baskets down instead of grinding them with a stone. The process is exactly the same though on principle

Is the same fruit, same process. The difference might come on how transparent the liquid turns out to be unless the impurities or pieces of olive are not thoroughly filtered. The brown parts are usually the skins of the olives that got pressed (which are also the impurities that sometimes make it through the process)

However either way no if your olive oil is brown then is time for you to get rid of it where we come from hahaha It means it was used one too many times for cooking! XD But jokes aside that is not necessarily why "olive skin" is named such. It is because the skin that is mostly pale-ish has some greenish and some yellowish undertones that resemble olive wood on the bark and branch of the tree

these undertones give complexions a natural essence of "chameleon effect" making the skin tone appear different under certain conditions (for example I look terribly pale if I wear yellow. I don't do anything else but wear yellow and immediately appear like a ghost! While when I wear earthy tones like khaki it gives my skin a more biscuit-like essence under the light) It also has the ability to tan faster under the sun. Anyone in Europe in theory can get a tan if they stay under the sun long enough. People around the Mediterranean might as well get the same result but with half the exposure to the sun and we can absorb the sunlight easier (to me it also reminds me the transaction from fresh olive branches to the bark of the tree) at least that is what I remember of it. By the by we still get nasty sunburns too by the sun! We are not immune to it! Hahaha just more resilient on average.
