19. underwater kiss

it’s the kind of place ryker would never have gotten into by himself. gated community swimming pool, pleasant, summery music playing through loud speaks posted in the four corners of the courtyard, and even a drink guy that offers people towels and overpriced alcohol. fancy shit.

and it’s all thinks to sugardani.

he can’t say he’s entirely used to the sleep with someone and they pay for everything business, but ryker’s not above reaping the benefits. he’s already downed two expensive cocktails by the side of the pool, body half submerged as he floats lazily and watches.

what’s he watching? why, daniel the great himself, who looks like he was born in a goddamn fancy swimming pool, all tanned skin and muscles and beads of water dripping down his stupid-perfect back. it makes for a good show, if not one that leaves ryker feeling a little wanting. he glances down at himself a couple times and wonders how many centuries it would take for him to produce a six pack. fourteen, maybe.

and that’s probably the thought that finally pushes ryker away from the edge of the pool and sends him wading after the other man. he’s a lot less graceful when it comes to water, but he does what he can until he reaches the neck and shoulders that he’s aiming for. and then he jumps, and pulls.

    “I certainly hope so.”  High compliment ( or is it assurance? ) for an animal.  Pack is pack– others who scent would hardly be able to tell pack members apart.  Twins far more so, from the milk as nourishment for infants to the bodies torn into pieces until they can cradle silken organs as living gold.  Their differences are splattering rain against an ocean.  Forgettable.  In an echo, she scents like someone else.  Far less of a ghost uncomfortably settled between long shoulders, more fangs of a ghoul buried through the back of her neck.  Junseok seals his teeth around a query.  To dig within her is to leave his own memories for her curious fingers to pry within.  Few have earned that right, and fewer still used it kindly.  He is far too keen on the familiarity of taking back what is his by force to allow many close.  

Still, that smile.  “Ah, a mother.  Curious after all.”  For does he not know how his twin bares teeth upon women, distrust settled as cold iron in his spine to infect his stomach with poison?  Even sweet, cotton candy things such as Fleur – creatures neither female nor male are met with distrust.  Pattern, routine.  Changes are not welcome.  New is not allowed.  Odd, he thinks.  Fingers searching through pockets until he frees a carton.  “I’m certain you’ve noticed, but I advise darker colors.  Seyoonie will rarely wear anything but blacks, greys, and whites without my pleading.”  

A flick, the lid raised.  Lighter rests within neat rows of cigarettes.  

A HUM FALLS from her lips and she can’t help but be incredibly curious. What did he want from her? Did he loathe her for taking his sibling’s attention, or was he just protecting him? She had been --- well, her brothers had done that to those that she had cared about before. She knew the reaction ---- it was done to make people flee. She wouldn’t. She may be the sea ( or soon be ) but she wasn’t going to lose him. She was already so fond of him. Maybe that’s foolish, she doesn’t care. She was impenetrable --- like a fortress. But even then there were ways to make her fall. Her heart one of them. Seyoon had found his own little place there, along with others. “She’s --- well, she seems almost ten now. Growing so fast. Would he like a dark blue? One that almost seems black but when you’re in the sun, it’s blue. I can do that, I’ve learnt.” 

Hands are hidden in pockets and she’s just raising a brow, the small smile still on her face. It’s slightly harder now, as if it wasn’t really true. She’s worried. She may not like it, but the emotion was written all over her face. She’s always been far too expressive. It would get her in trouble one day. Maybe today was one of those days. Maybe Seyoon’s twin would rip her apart and leave her to put herself together. It’s happened before and it does hurt, maybe if he does she’ll be COLDER next time. How she should be if she were to take her mothers position. She already seems stronger --- side effect from taking on worshippers. 

another drink. good. two is better than one. three would be perfect. ryker’s gotten good at measuring just how much he can inhale before his ability dampens, and before he hits blackout drunk. there’s a sweet spot between the two that stamps out his empathic bullshit until it’s just a fuzzy haze, and makes his mood lift, and his inhibitions drop. he’ll be drunk, but not totally useless. ideal.

a week straight, daniel says. holy shit, i’m going to die, ryker thinks. then right after, bullshit. 

he rests his forearm on the counter, leaning into the strong cradle around his waist, and tips back half of his second drink. his nose wrinkles again, but only a little bit. and there’s definitely a hand on his ass. there’s definitely a hand squeezing his ass.

okay, now it’s starting to get fun.

down goes the second half of the drink, and the empty glass is set noisily on top of the counter. ryker whoops a satisfied sound after he swallows, looping an arm around daniel’s waist and returning the gesture, enthusiastically smacking what turns out to be a sculpted backside. honestly, he shouldn’t be surprised. damn abercrombie model.

HE WATCHES THE other with amusement and then he’s grinning, full blown grinning and it’s kind of beautiful. He’s got spunk and well, that’s certainly a turn on. A grin and his hand squeezes again and he’s going to stay like that ---- obvious. POSSESSIVE. He’s always had an issue with that even if he was a no strings attached kind of guy. Part of him just wants to pull him up against the counter and kiss him silly, make sure everyone knew who he was going home with him. But that was rude so he would just keep his hand on Ryker’s ass. 

Much safer. Or something. 

     “You should prove that.That you like making people scream. Come to mine. Stay as long as you want to prove what you said.” He’s still grinning, happiness practically oozing off him. He likes getting what he wants, whether it was sex with hot guys or a hug from his daughter and a declaration that he was her favourite. 

He’s an easy guy to please, but also quick to anger. But that didn’t seem to be happening any time soon. He settles into the touch, own hand squeezing that little bit harder. He hadn’t really felt the smack, but that’s just because he was after all inhuman. And his ass WAS perfect and he damn well knew that. Eyes watch him and then he’s raising a brow. Is that a CHALLENGE? Because he’s going to take that as a challenge whether Ryker meant it or not. “You up to going back to mine yet? It’s only a few minutes away. On the beach. Want to see how weird you get.” Such a tease. He just can’t help himself. 

    “I’m YOUR fool and you love me.” A HUM AND he’s grinning, pressing lips to her neck, smearing them up and down before pulling away. Fingers finding her hair, running through the stands and tugging gently. Not hard enough to hurt, but enough that he knew if it were him he would MOAN. Eyes watch her and he’s grinning, he loves her. That’s what all of this is. He LOVES her and part of her just wants to run, but he can’t now, he loves her. He’s told her he can make her a god. He’ll do it. He’ll do anything for her. He’s already KILLED for her after all. 

Part of him just wants to turn them over, fuck her silly, but he knows he’ll need to explain what he just said. It’s not something OFTEN said after all. Zeus had made Heracles a god, so why couldn’t he make his beloved a god, especially since he came from more ANCIENT stock. Lips part and he’s smiling, moving so he’s flush against her again, fingers running through her hair. Gentle, loving. It’s so unlike him that many would think him FALSE --- a fake. But he’d met Maya. It was just different now.

A GRIN AND he’s groaning as nails drag through his hair. After a moment his hands are moving to her ass, squeezing there before he’s lifting her up, pulling her close. Making it easy for the both of them. A happy sigh falls from his lips, rocking against her gently. It’s easy to be hard for her, when she’s so beautiful --- so ENIGMATIC. She’s his everything now.
