you're going to be alright.

i find it incredibly peculiar how yūji’s more meaningful friendships / dynamics end up being the ones he never really accounted for. like tōdō, or choso for example— but i could even go as far as to say people like panda, or yūta? he even responds well to inumaki, and that’s so particular to me. sure, he’s friends with his classmates, but to what extent? i have a very specific way i see his dynamic with fushiguro / nobara, ESPECIALLY fushiguro, but alas, those are thoughts for another day.

yūji wasn’t a sorcerer, nor did he know jack squat about sorcery and jujutsu before canon events. hell, HE DOESN’T EVEN HAVE A TECHNIQUE OF HIS OWN. he literally adopts blood manipulation after absorbing the death paintings, and that’s AGES after he first enrolls. all yūji had going for him was, and i quote, a “naturally gifted body.” do you understand what that means? that through sheer resilience, training, and basic application of the cursed energy flowing within him, he was capable of facing opponents that normal sorcerers with years of experience had trouble even standing up to. now sure, we can talk about his heritage, and his bloodline; but being a child and getting thrown to the wolves doesn’t change anything just because you’re a warrior’s child.

to piggyback off my last topic; the infantilization and the “himbofication” of yūji within the fandom needs to be fucking studied, bro. because people are way too comfortable berating him and scolding him for things all kids his age have done— just to turn around, and praise other characters for doing. he doesn’t need his classmates, or his teachers to get things done. hell, it’s more often than not that he finds himself (ALONE) doing a grown man’s job.

TALKING ABOUT FRIENDS, HE MISSES HIS FRIENDS FROM SENDAI CITY. SO BAD. ESPECIALLY SASAKI-CHAN AND TAKESHI-KUN. he routinely goes to visit them— and they still try to do their little paranormal / occult researches together, even though yūji is unfortunately… really, really, really busy, for some reason. (JUST THINK ABOUT THE FACT THAT KENJAKU GOT BOTH OF THEM OUT OF THE CULLING GAME…)
