► reblog to let your mutuals know that... YOUR RP BLOG IS NOT TIME-SENSITIVE!
...That there is NO time limit or expiration date on asks, memes or threads.
...That your partners NEVER need to feel they have to apologise for not responding to a thread or ask yet.
...That you welcome replies to "OLD" threads and memes, even if they've been sitting quietly untouched for weeks or months.
...That there is NEVER any pressure or obligation for your partners to reply until they feel the drive and enthusiasm to do so.
...That YOU will happily respond to things at YOUR OWN leisure, and you would like your partners to feel comfortable doing the same.
Not everybody enjoys running their blog this way and that's a-okay. But removing the idea that RP interactions are something that can "expire" or that the asks in your inbox have an unspoken "due-date", takes the pressure off of both your partners and yourself and can help bust feelings of stress/anxiety from the hobby. Reblog to let your partners know that you're just jazzed to receive new writing from them, whenever it comes.
the call was abandoned. his phone discarded on the passenger seat. he waited for the doorman to change his mind with his eyebrows raised. a look of: see! i'm not fucking crazy, i told you i know her! displayed across his features.
but he couldn't really blame the man. moving the car inside her driveway, he saw a glimpse of her standing by the door and a distant sense of distress settled over his chest. it wasn't that she wasn't beautiful now. long, blonde hair, arched eyebrows, sharp lines. she was. she was a whole lot more than just beautiful, actually. it was that the person he remembered celeste being was a girl. round faced and energetic.
his heart whined. god, he sucked at letting go.
aviator sunglasses on, he fixed the collar of his hawaiian shirt and moved outside, meeting her with a large, "celeste!" and because richard was richard, when he came in, it was with a hug. pulling her into a long tight embrace before holding her shoulder to lean back and take a good look. — this was bad, this was very bad. — "how have you been? well, i mean, i know how you've been, i've heard gossip, but, how have you been?" richard smiled. as if the second time around the question meant something totally different.
"i can't believe you are still tiny. i gave you, like, what? ten, twenty years to grow up? i was hoping to find you taller than me. if anything i think you lost a few inches." he laughed.
as richard approached, memories flickered through celeste’s mind like frayed film reels, slightly damaged, worn with age, and missing pieces. yet at the heart of each memory stood richard and herself, oblivious to the world when they were together.
and there it was—a slow, creeping smile tugging at her lips. richard, with his uncanny ability to make her smile no matter the circumstance, hadn’t lost his touch. she almost couldn’t believe it, but her next surprise came in the form of his embrace. though richard couldn’t see it, celeste buried her head into his chest, taking in a deep breath, his familiar scent pulling her into the comfort of their past.
" so, you’ve come all this way after all this time just to bully me, roosevelt ? " she teased, feigning seriousness. " i suppose you've read the headlines. i’d watch your words if i were you. according to the rumors, i’m not exactly someone to trifle with. " the jest was light, but her voice wove threads of sadness between the humor.
“ come in, then, ” she added, leading the way to the sitting room. she removed her gold-rimmed glasses, casting a lingering glance over him. " i just wanted to take a good look at you after all this time. " curiosity flickered in her eyes. " so, to what do i owe this visit ? "
@godsforlorn
he was sitting in the driver's seat of his roosevelt elysium staring at the doorman like he didn't know what else to say. "i know her! i swear!" but the man did not budge, looking at him like he thought richard was insulting him for thinking this might work. "come on." richard had to take a deep breath, pulling his phone out of his pocket. he had her number, right? somewhere in there. he used to have it at least. cel— celeste— celly— it took quite a little bit of search before he found it. no name on the contact. her number was saved with a few star emojis. "jesus." had he been that obvious about his crush? "fucking embarrassing." richard shook his head, placed the call. "celeste!" excitement clear in his tone when someone answered. "hey, it's me, hi, your old buddy, richard— roosevelt. richard roosevelt. i'm outside your place, you think you can let me in?"
celeste had always kept herself busy. in her youth, it was her aversion to stillness. during her marriage, it was a shield, a way to avoid her husband. and now, as a widow, work was her sanctuary—her escape from the swirling conspiracy theories casting her as her late husband’s murderer.
wrapped in a plush pink robe, her hair in a careless flow, gold-rimmed glasses sliding down her nose, she stared at the uninspired invitation samples on her laptop. mediocre, at best. perfection was her only standard. when her phone buzzed, her heart hesitated, not wanting to spare her attention for anything or anyone else—until she saw the contact photo. a photo of them together, too big of smiles on their faces. his voice on the line, so familiar after so long, unsettled her.
" richard, it’s really you, " she breathed. “ wait just a moment. ” she sent a quick message to security to allow him, then stood at the front door of her mansion, waiting for him, unbothered by her disheveled appearance.
I love when people are genuinely excited about our plots/ships. I love when I’m not the only one who’s like “!!!” I love it. @ my partners you will literally never annoy me by being overly excited about our ships I love it so much.

i truly want to sob because it is monday tomorrow 😶😶😶
She may not have his particular set of skills. But Elena didn't rise to the top of a public relations firm without a keen intuition about people. And from her assessment - this is outside of Rudy's norm. An observer, a wallflower. Why would he put himself in the cross hairs of her messy personal life, and messier family, just to feel settled? Elena has her hunch, and she meets his straightened posture and nonchalance with an amused expression.
"Well, well... Five stars, then. I'll make sure to add 'end-to-end customer service' to my Yelp review." Sure, she's making fun. She takes little effort to hide it. But she's intrigued now, and it nearly eclipses her desperation. Unfortunately, the looming holiday keeps at least one foot of the ground of her haughtiness. "Alright. Trevor is out. Done. Buried. Bottom of the ocean." Where he's already been, in her opinion. Has been, since she first suspected the cheating. "And the role of my boyfriend will be played by Rudy. The hot, brooding, stoic type. At least, that's what I'll tell my mom before we get there."
Standing up, it's her turn to straighten up. An air of seriousness, replacing the amusement of seconds prior. "This isn't a romantic comedy. Or some fuck boy's sick plot to get a woman into bed. Alright?" She insists, lifting a brow. "This is a job for you. A gig from me. Clear?"
“ end-to-end customer service it is, ” he remarked, his demeanor unwavering as he quoted her words. rudy had embarked on this venture entirely on his own, and for the moment, he felt no pangs of regret—why should he ? elena’s response to his proposal was refreshingly professional, reflecting a buoyancy that sent a thrill through his heart. as he listened to her outline how she would introduce him to her family, he nodded in agreement, impressed. “ you’re not half bad at marketing, either. ”
“ clear as day, ” he replied with resolute conviction. this was certainly no romantic comedy. if her family were to discover that he was merely a faux boyfriend, and if that revelation somehow infiltrated his professional life, it would veer sharply into the realm of the absurd—an imdb-worthy thriller with a 9.9 rating. “ that’s precisely why we must ensure that no loose ends remain; we have to work out a few details.” if rudy didn’t approach even the wildest of endeavors with meticulous care, it simply wouldn’t be him.
“ while you might think we’ve spent enough time together, if i stand before your family as nothing more than a stranger, they’ll undoubtedly see right through it. so, we need a training process first. you must present yourself to me in the most comprehensive way possible, and i will provide you with enough information to answer any future questions about me. as for the rest, you can fabricate that as skillfully as you did just now, but i cannot spin tales in front of them. ”
"Actually, I waited four months, three days, eleven or so hours... But who's counting?" This is his bread and butter. The back-and-forth. The double-entendres. A dancer in every sense of the word, Sebastien takes to this dance of wits like a moth to a flame. The thinly-veiled seduction as the cherry on top of his sundae. This is where he's comfortable, and he could play this game with Adelaide at any hour. But she would not be who she was if she didn't slice through his comfort level with such surgical precision, Sebastien can only react haphazardly.
"So long as you keep holding me, babe." A practiced line, but not insincere. He hangs onto the crutches of his playboy flirtation, but her words manage to wrangle a snort. Not out of derision, but irony. "Funny. I have been waiting for someone who has only ever been interested in my talent." It's not lost on him how diametrically opposed they are. Adelaide's perfection begets usury. Sebastien's privilege overshadows his substance. Which of them would win in the pageantry of misery?
Like everything else; Adelaide doesn't relent. Too smart, too obstinate, to fall for his song-and-dance to keep from the uncomfortable talk. She wants words. Black and white. Clear as day. He follows her every movement, glancing at her plate. "I thought you liked poached eggs and whole wheat toast." An obscure observation from their months working together. Sighing, he drops his fork, offering a softened gaze. "Adelaide - what do you want me to say?"
Pulling his seat backwards, it's his turn to face her. He reaches for the leg of her chair, pulling her closer with an ease similar to his lifting her. "As a rule, I don't make breakfast." He says, like it answers her question. "I don't even keep eggs, or milk in my house. Or mint fucking tea." He gestures back at the table. "But I went to the corner store while you were sleeping, and I made you breakfast." Licking his lips, he shrugs, a mark of vulnerability that wasn't there before. "I don't have a dissertation on my feelings for you to dissect. I'm sorry. But, I made breakfast. And I wanna keep making you breakfast."
" so you were keeping count after all. " where once his endless chatter might have grated on her nerves, now it felt like an invitation to dance. and dancing was their everything. sometimes it was a dance of calculated words, and sometimes, like the night before, it was a dance of pleasure, a sweet indulgence that lingered in their every exchange.
yet, despite the playful cadence in her voice, adelaide’s seriousness shone through. each word she spoke held a weight that shaped their unspoken connection, this unnamed thing between them that begged for definition, for clarity.
their personalities were as different as night and day, and perhaps that very contrast was what drew them to each other so intensely. a force neither could resist. with every forward step in this conversation, they also moved closer physically, as if proximity would draw out more honest answers. so when sebastien pulled her chair toward him, adelaide didn’t resist.
“ those are lovely things to say, ” she remarked, her voice soft with a hint of concern, “ though i must admit, your dietary habits have me a little worried. ” she tilted her head slightly, as though wanting to frame her sympathy with the smallest of gestures.
but then, her tone shifted. there was a subtle danger in it now, a bittersweet venom lacing her words. “ i’m willing to be the one to enjoy that breakfast, every morning. ” she began, “ but before we go any further, understand this—choosing me to be the one you make breakfast for every morning means you won’t be making it for anyone else. nor will you be… making them happy in other ways. ” her eyes gleamed with the gravity of what she was saying. “ i’m sure there will be plenty of broken hearts in the wake of that decision. i hope they’re ready. and if they’re not— ”
her hand rose with graceful precision, fingers gently clasping his chin, like a venus flytrap closing in on its prey. her touch was soft, her voice sweet, but the statements she was making were anything but. she was drawing him into this complex game, this dangerous territory, with every word. " i only care if you're ready for it, sebastien. are you ? "
open to f inspo : ( scream - inspo ) y/m left their home town and luke grew up to become the groundskeeper for the graveyard and some what of a social recluse .
" hey , hush kid . . . thought you were never comin' back here . "
" let’s be honest, i probably shouldn’t have come back. " celia’s voice was soft, her gaze drifting skyward as if even the heavens above her hometown conspired to edge her out. " i heard you stayed, though. i even asked about you, hoping maybe... i’d get a chance to see you again after all this time. " the words slipped out, unguarded, one of the first things she’d done upon returning—inquiring about him, despite knowing better.
She's accustomed to being a point of amusement for many. Loud, brash, dramatic Elena Stewart. But for all of Rudy's rigidity and nonchalance, she never feels like he's laughing at her. And there's something to be said for that, given how laughable her exploits can be. "Shallow, yes. But if you ever met them, you'd realize why." Coming home as the 'single disaster' was almost as painful as the reality of her boyfriend cheating on her. Almost.
"Jesus left my arse out to dry a long time ago." Elena offers crudely, meeting his dry humor with a brush of obnoxiousness. The jokes end, however, and she finds herself simply looking at him with a critical eye. Was this his way of getting another few hundred out of her, or some backwards way of shooting his shot? Either way, her eyes dart back and forth in consideration. "Depends. What's it gonna cost me? And if this hypothetical person is drool-worthy enough to make my sisters and cousins ripe with jealousy?" She jests, even if the concern is laid barren. Rudy is beautiful, and there's already a twitch of excitement of showing that off.
according to rudy’s "unwritten rulebook for a private investigator," he was already skating on thin ice—too damn far ahead, really. he’d captured her attention, even earned those warm eyes of hers, though they carried that critical gleam he had become all too familiar with. he should have stopped there, let things rest at the comfortable distance he’d mastered over the years. but here he was, his mind racing, already building a mental list of reasons to justify his next move, a move that made no logical sense, but one his gut demanded. his list of justifications, though, was pitifully short: “ i. just. want. to. ”
" let me meet them. " the words left his lips in a tone so casual, it almost masked the gravity of his offer. it sounded like nothing—like he wasn’t volunteering himself as her pretend boyfriend in some makeshift romantic comedy scenario. like it wasn’t the strangest thing he'd suggested all day. he straightened up, an almost unconscious gesture that betrayed his unease. there was a flicker in his dark eyes, something he quickly hid beneath the mask of indifference he wore so well.
" it’s a package deal, " he added, as if the whole situation was as simple as throwing in an extra service at no charge. " comes with what you’ve already paid me for. just a habit of mine— " rudy said with a casual shrug, fingers barely brushing the lapels of his shirt, like it didn’t even matter. " it’s just how i work. when a case wraps up like this... incomplete, it bugs me. i don’t like leaving loose ends. not my style. "

"I'd hope not." There's a hint of teasing in his tone. A scandalous, raised brow as his expression recounts last night's events - and the sound of Adelaide's voice in his ear. "I'd like to think I've proven a thing or two to you last night." Whether he's referring to their first dance together on stage, or their bodies intertwined thereafter... Sebastien allows the silence to allude to it. A warm balm of teasing and fun, in direct response to the blonde's cool inspection. If she expects a serious conversation, maniacal and detailed, then she hasn't been paying attention.
"I think you might be the most talented dancer I've ever worked with." It isn't what she wants to hear. But as a professional dancer himself, she should know what it means from him. A depth of respect that he might not have for any other woman, personal or professional. Finally, he bites, lifting a bite of egg into his mouth. He swallows before he speaks, glancing at her from behind the coffee cup. "Fine," he sighs. "You are fucking maddening." But there's a roll of affection there, complemented with a smile back. "And I'm mad for your eccentricity."
the way she looked at him, her pristinely arched brows lifting in that same dramatic manner he often wielded, made it clear she, too, was replaying flashes of their night together in her mind. " oh, you most certainly did. almost felt like you’d been waiting for ages to prove that little point of yours, " she remarked, the glimmer of amusement tugging at her lips.
his critique of her artistry ? it earned him a mocking smirk. she had heard such comments more times than she cared to count. there was a time when such praise, especially from him, would have carried weight. but now, her threshold for amazement was set much higher—after all, just like he said, he had already proven quite a bit last night. in that same quipping tone, she retorted, " thank you. i’ll be sure to hold that compliment against you some other day. " of course, even now, she couldn’t resist teasing him, just like the old days. though their past had evolved into something far deeper, that playful spark remained. but then her tone shifted, just slightly, as she continued, " the last time i gave someone a chance who was only interested in my talent, it didn’t end well. i won’t make that mistake again. "
that was the crux of this conversation, wasn’t it ? too often, she’d been pursued by those infatuated with her on-stage persona, and once, she had foolishly let one of them get too close. she had despised it—being loved only for her talent and beauty, while the messier, more vulnerable parts of her remained hidden. but his next words stirred something deeper within her, touching a part of her that wasn’t her public self, and in that moment, she knew him too well not to question his sincerity.
slowly, with deliberate grace, she pushed her untouched plate across the table until it rested beside his. then, with the same poised elegance, she rose from her seat and moved her chair next to his, positioning it so she could face him directly, rather than the table. each motion was a study in precision, the way she always carried herself—diligent, graceful. " there you go, sebastien, " she murmured, her voice soft yet sure. adelaide gestured to the plate she had placed near his. " you can have that too, by the way. i’m far more hungry to hear what else you’ve got to say to me. " her gaze lingered on him, intent and unwavering. " after all, whether we have another night like the last depends entirely on your words. how often we see each other again… well, that also rests on what you say next. "
"You don't think I know that?" She exasperates, lifting her head from the pillow in exasperation. "But I'd rather eat broken fucking glass than show up to Thanksgiving solo." Dramatic? Maybe. But Elena's family was known for their theatrics. "What do you expect me to do about it?"
rudy couldn’t help but react to her reaction, though he kept his amusement hidden beneath a mask of indifference. it was, admittedly, cute—the way she responded—but of course, he wasn’t about to let her see that. for a brief moment, a small smile ghosted across his lips, quickly concealed by his hand, as he averted his gaze from her. when he spoke again, his voice was steeped in its usual nonchalance, though he was fully aware that what he was about to suggest veered beyond his professional boundaries.
“ so, that’s what it comes down to ? ” he mused, a touch of dry humor threading through his words. “ thanksgiving, saving his sorry hide ? i’m not sure jesus would approve of that very much. ” he paused, as if considering the thought carefully, though in truth, the next offer was hardly hypothetical. “ say, hypothetically, i found someone to go with you—would you be willing to drop him then ? ” his tone remained casual, but there was a subtle shift beneath the surface, a quiet admission that this proposition was anything but strictly business.
