It's Tough to be a God

﴾ ➼ ﴿ Cyrran gave him an amused glance as he began to steadily walk down the street. ❝That’s quite alright. I didn’t know what they were before I got here, either. But yes, it does. I… suppose I can show you in person. I would not describe it well, I don’t think.❞  

“No no. The sun isn’t the agency president. Shining-san is a person. Shining Saotome is his full name.”

﴾ ➼ ﴿ ❝A guide, hm?❞ The elf tilted his head in thought, though he did not seem against the idea. ❝I don’t mind, of course, though I will warn you much of the city requires walking. The train moves between districts, of course, but it takes awhile for it to come back around, you see.❞   

“Ah, yes. Train.” Miguel had never heard of a train. Being from 1519, the closest thing he had to a train was a large wheelbarrow. Or perhaps a horse. “I do not know what a train is, but the way you spoke of it leads me to believe it is something that helps reduce walking.”

“I mostly wear hats, so no problem there. I was actually referring to the president of my old agency.”

﴾ ➼ ﴿ ❝I wonder indeed.❞ Cyrran smiled again, giving the man a once-over before he was back to pleasantries. ❝Cyrran Lavellan, though just Cyrran is fine. It is a pleasure to meet you as well, Miguel.❞   

[Oh, um, well I know the talking gun, that’s Jyuzo.] A request for information? Maybe this guy wasn’t too big of an asshole after all…

[I can’t talk because of a machine in my throat, but with that machine I can use other machines, like this–] He points to the robot head. [But only for some time. Otherwise I have to use sign language to talk.] Okay, maybe this Miguel guy wasn’t too bad…

[What’s wrong with you?! You’re lucky you’re new! The head isn’t me, I’m me, and I talk through it. Haven’t you ever seen a speaking device before!?]

﴾ ➼ ﴿ ❝That is because such a title does not actually exist. Ignore that nonsense.❞ He smiled pleasantly, his tone brooking no room for argument on the silly matter. ❝You are new, then? What is your name, if I may…?❞  

“That is is! I mean, once you’ve worked under Shining-san, things couldn’t possibly get any madder!”

﴾ ➼ ﴿ A pitying look for the very blond, very perturbed man. ❝You’ve been lucky, in that sense! Well, you will get used to it… hopefully.❞

“I’ve seen worse back home.”

﴾ ➼ ﴿ ❝Have you not gathered that much by now?❞

[You new here or something?] Oh, hello, it’s a small boy with metal limbs talking out of a…Robot head. Nothing weird here.

He stares at the man for a moment, unsure how to respond exactly, “For my soul? You’re joking, right?” Even if everything else he’s saying points to, no, he’s completely serious. “There’s no demons, believe me. Would it make you feel better if I showed you how it works?”

Miguel is skeptical and, admittedly, a bit terrified. But he is at the same time curious... He nods his head, sticking his bottom lip out, and prays to whomever is listening that he doesn’t become possessed.
