DECEIVER

slowly  the  god  of  thunder  is  gathering  himself  into  someone  he  once  recognized  ,  but  it’s  taking  longer  than  expected  .  the  events  of  the  last  five  years  have  been  traumatic  and  he’s  beaten  himself  up  more  than  anyone  else  ever  could  .  none  of  it  left  time  for  thor  to  really  take  care  of  himself  ,  nor  that  he  thought  he  deserved  it  .  the  blame  has  been  strong  on  his  own  shoulders  

loki  doesn’t  come  forth  with  snide  or  witty  comments  .  there’s  no  jokes  made  at  his  expense  ,  which  is  what  he’d  been  expecting  .  so  when  he  stays  quiet  and  begins  to  pick  up  the  evidence  of  thor’s  obvious  drinking  problems  ,  the  god  of  thunder  feels  the  heat  of  embarrassment  spread  across  his  cheeks  .  ❝    of  course  ,  of  course  .  i  do  have  a  cleaning  staff  but  those  lazy  sacks  having  been  coming  around  .  .  .  i  do  feel  like  i  need  to  find  some  new  help  .  ❞  

all  of  it  is  blaringly  untrue  but  somehow  he  now  feels  like  the  size  of  an  ant  as  loki  begins  to  clean  up  after  him  ,  none  of  which  he  would  have  expected  .  also  ,  he’d  been  unaware  just  how  big  of  an  issue  it  must  be  .  he’s  gone  down  such  a  rabbit  hole  in  recent  years  with  his  grief  that  he’s  been  absolutely  blind  .  or  maybe  he  just  didn’t  care  much  about  anything  .  oh  what  loki  must  think  of  him  .  

𝐓𝐇𝐎𝐔𝐆𝐇  𝐈𝐓  𝐌𝐀𝐘  𝐍𝐎𝐓  𝐒𝐄𝐄𝐌  𝐈𝐓,  𝐋𝐎𝐊𝐈’𝐒  𝐓𝐇𝐎𝐔𝐆𝐇𝐓𝐒       truly  are  not  harsh  ones.  Not  the  ones  it  would  seem  so  natural  for  his  brother  to  expect  at  this  point.  Their  relationship  over  the  last  several  years  had  been  a  rocky  one  &  that  there  was  no  denying.  There  had   been  times  when  he  had  been  unfair  &  unkind.  There  had  been  times  when  he  had  hoped  to  see  Thor  brought  low  surely,  but  not  this  time  & never  this low.  As  envious  as  he  could  be  Loki  was  not  without  love  for  his  brother.  Seeing  him  like  this. . .  It  does  not  spark  any  joy  within  the  trickster’s  devious  heart,  only  a  very  mutual  sorrow.  It  was  a  feeling  he  loathed  above  all.

He  gives  his  brother  a  nod,  with  a  faint  smile  forming  on  his  face  as  he  does.  Its  fortunate  that  he  was  a  natural  born  deceiver  or  else  his  smile  may  just  have  screamed  with  the  doubt  that  sat  in  the  back  of  his  mind  with  Thor’s  explanation.  There  was  no  dwelling  on  it  of  course,  instead.

❝ Ah,  I  see.  Well,  all  in  due  time,  brother.  For  now  I’m  quite  sure  I  can  handle  this. ❞  he  makes  a  gesture  to  bottles  in  his  arms,  knowing  perhaps  if  he  didn’t  they  would  never  get  moved  &  he  simply  couldn’t  allow  Thor  to  live  this  way  any  longer.  It  may  not  have  been  much,  but  was  the  was  the  most  present  way  he  could  think  to  lend  a  hand  where  it  was  so  desperately  needed.

𝐃𝐈𝐃𝐍'𝐓  𝐒𝐇𝐄 ?  𝐒𝐀𝐃𝐋𝐘  𝐈𝐓  𝐅𝐄𝐋𝐓  𝐓𝐇𝐀𝐓  𝐖𝐀𝐘  𝐌𝐎𝐑𝐄  𝐎𝐅𝐓𝐄𝐍      than  not  &  though  she  was  hardly  one  to  wallow  in  self  pity,  Loki  had  never  once  felt  at  ease  among  her  people  ━  more  accurately,  in  fact,  she  never  truly  felt  wanted  by  her  people.  Ever  a  black  sheep  amongst  the  golden  herd,  it  felt  there  was  not  one  thing  about  her  that  fit  with  any  of  them  at  any  time.  Though  she  knew  she  wouldn’t  find  comfort  in  conformity,  she  always  yearned  for  acceptance.  At  times  any  kind  would  do.  She  slinks  away  to  a  quiet  perch  some  ways  out,  lit  only  by  the  light  of  the  glimmering  stars  above  with  the  sounds  of  merriment  soothingly  muffled  by  the  short  distance.  She’s  grown  tired  of  the  festivities  for  the  night.  It  wasn’t  mischief  she  had  hoped  for,  just  a  little  attention,  or  so  she  thought.  As  always  books  had  been  better  company  to  her  than  people.  She  stands  idly  twiddling  her  fingers  in  thought  when  she’s  made  aware  she  was  no  longer  alone.
