biting down

this is super long. it’s probably all over the place too so sorry about that.

the first thing looking back at it, is that i wish they would’ve kept on progressing the roman redemption arc they had going on in season two since that would’ve rounded his character development up quite well but i also get where the writers were coming from. i don’t know if i really think losing nadia would be enough to tip him over the edge like it did though, i mean, he got even worse than he was in season one. i’ve had my fair share of moments where i hated roman all over the series but that season took the cake in that department. 

personally, while i think it was nice to introduce another sibling, the whole incest deal seemed pretty pointless to me. not much more i can say to that, except that it probably made me despise roman even a bit more than i already did. he wasn’t exactly at fault the first time they fucked but that it progressed to somewhat of a relationship was questionable at best.

i did however like how much focus johann got this season and that they delivered a bit of backstory after giving him nothing for two seasons, really. obviously i would’ve preferred if he lived since it was sweet that he found someone after apparently struggling for so long. the death he got however didn’t really seem fitting to me at all. 

while i was (and possibly still am) unsure about shelley’s new relationship, i definitely liked her storyline and how things turned out for her. 

i also kinda liked olivia’s storyline but the whole disease came a bit out of nowhere but so did quite a lot of other things. anyways, it had quite a bit of funny moments so that’s always a nice change. i particularly liked the talk she had with annie, no matter how much of that was true or false, i quite enjoyed that. of course i’m somewhat upset about her death but that goes for most of the characters that died this season so.

destiny was probably the most upsetting thing to me but i think it’s because i’m biased, her being my favorite and all. it was sad seeing how happy she was most of last season and the beginning of this one, just to have it all be taken away and everything going downhill for her. i guess it made sense to have things go that way to make it end up the way it did for peter but i’m not exactly a fan. i loved that roman and destiny somewhat bonded last season and having that be completely turned around and fucked over was upsetting to say the least. 

so, roman and peter. they’ve said from the beginning that the main focus and point of the show is the relationship between those two and i knew they’d end up having some sort of conflict in the final season. however, i was sure it’d be the fact that roman was the one impregnating letha and that that’d be the final tipping point of their relationship. but i guess that wouldn’t ultimately be enough to have a climax of life and death since i doubt peter would kill roman over that, not anymore anyway. so i guess the next best thing was having roman kill everything peter had left of his family. it was pretty obvious they wouldn’t all of the sudden have a romantic plotline and end up dating each other but i’m disappointed that it felt like they barely had any interaction this season. whenever they were together over the course of the first 8 or so episodes, it was more out of necessity than actual bonding or wanting to spend time together (that bar scene excluded). i did quite enjoy the ending they had though, i think for the way they chose to go with the season, in my opinion it was well done.
