FLY HIGHER!

The half-human really had no problem tending to his new plant friend’s unruliness, since the farmer boy was used to tending to many of his own crops from the smallest orange leaf to the greatest tomato plant alike. But a live, jerky yet sensitive plant-soul? That was new.

It wasn’t anything that Micah couldn’t handle. He immediately got to work on Cagney and inspected the withered bits of leaves on the top of his center, and hummed quizzically as he examined his dewy roots. It was kind of a like a haircut! Micah began cutting gingerly with his shears, not afraid of being too harsh but worried that Cagney wouldn’t approve. 

“H-haha,” Micah awkwardly laughed, “-are you okay? Let me know if you don’t like something.” 

He hummed a small tune while plucking away at brown, crusty leaves.

Something didn’t feel right in the air- something was amiss- and MIcah couldn’t exactly put his finger on it. A trickle of fear in the back of his throat, his hair on the back of his neck stood on edge, and he felt a pang of worry. It was surprising that no one else in the area felt it- it was almost as if MIcah was on another plane of living, besides the reality of now. 

Then, he saw something- something pass by quickly- something that made him flinch. 

“Huh-!” The adventurer gasped and grabbed the nearest hand, tightly. “Geez!”

Normally, the half-sheep hero wasn’t scared of much- ghosts, heights, and the likes of giant monsters- but the slightest movement of a shadow from the corner of his eye- now that scared him.
