Khafre Enthroned
This perfectly modeled and well-polished life-size statue depicts king Khafra, the builder of the second largest pyramid at Giza. It was found in a pit in the antechamber of his Valley Temple at Giza. The king is seated on a throne flanked by lion heads. The two sides of the throne are decorated with the sema-tawy, symbol of the unity of Upper and Lower Egypt.
Khafra wears the nemes headdress, surmounted by the uraeus, or royal cobra. He wears the royal pleated kilt. Attached to his chin is an artificial ceremonial sacred beard. He is protected by the god Horus, represented as a falcon, perched at the back of his neck.
This artifact is a masterpiece of workmanship. The sculptor was able to depict the details of the facial features and muscles of the body, in spite of the hardness of the stone.
Made out of anorthosite gneiss (related to diorite). From the Valley Temple of Khafre. Old Kingdom, 4th Dynasty, around 2570 BC. Now in the Egyptian Museum, Cairo. JE 10062

War on the Islamic State (Daesh), Kurdish fighters.
Don’t think Tumblr will out right die but more like trickle slowly and fade out like a flame at the end of a burnt out wax candle. Until then I will watch with a tear in my eye cause after all is said in done. I actually grew to love this site. Edit: Also, cause I got a few people asking me, this is not mines. Don’t want anyone to get the wrong Idea just thought this was awesome and should be shared. Check out https://twitter.com/4o4Tales or click the youtube link in the video and give him some love for making this video.

The coolest airplane ever!
This airplane looks like the most comfortable airplane ever made. Each passenger gets their own little cubicle with their own fold out TV, pillow and blanket! I would never get off this thing.

These are not outliers–they are the words and actions of prominent officials and organizations in the vanguard of South Africa’s BDS movement. These are the same boycott activists that last month hosted Leila Khaled–who hijacked TWA and El Al planes as a member of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine–and who in October placed a pig’s head in the kosher section of a Cape Town supermarket. Under the guise of attacking Israel, these activists have repeatedly assailed their country’s Jews. The effort to expel Jews from the Durban University of Technology is but the latest act in this ugly campaign.
Ironically, the global BDS movement has premised its call to boycott Israel on the equation of contemporary Israel with apartheid South Africa–a comparison it strenuously insists is not motivated by anti-Semitism but rather anti-Zionism. Yet, in the very birthplace of apartheid, the movement’s own advocates can’t seem to distinguish between the two.
