If all you do is watch porn and masturbate, then you are not alone. There are literally tens of thousands of men and quite a few women too, either married or single, out there who spend vast amounts of time viewing porn and masturbating.

I believe I’m correct when I say that more time is spent by people watching porn and masturbating than actually having sex with others. Yes it is a lonely activity as most of it is done in private without others involved. Some prefer it that way because they are ashamed of it. This is due to a society that still regards it as taboo when done after adolescence. Some regard it as taboo even in adolescence, usually religious people.

It is not something to be ashamed of, it does not harm you or anyone else. Apart from an aching hand or arm and some soreness in the genital region due to excess, it is quite safe. It is the safest sex there is.

For it is sex, it is a sexual act, not for procreation or a physical bond between two people, but simply a safe means of gratifying the sexual urge that is in all of us. Some people’s urges (libido) is greater than others and masturbation is a simple means whereby couples with varying libidos can avoid sexual frustration (a key cause of friction between couples).

For the single person it can a means of satisfying the sex urge between lovers. While for other single people for one reason or another it is their only means to satisfy the sex urge without resorting to using prostitutes. There are more of them about than you realise. They are the ones who generally feel the shame and loneliness of it, the ones that our society regard as losers, because for one reason or another they can’t find love with another person. It would do our society no harm to feel some compassion for these lonely individuals, instead of demeaning them.

There are another group of people, I myself belong to this group, who actively choose masturbation as their only form of sexual gratification. They prefer to masturbate usually while watching porn than to perform a sex act with another person. Again their reasons vary, mine is the fact that I’m a voyeur, I am sexually aroused by merely looking and watching others, plus I have a number of fetishes I enjoy indulging in, alone.
