it is genuinely very alarming to me that while the vast majority of dteam bloggers didnāt hesitate to condemn dreamās behaviour and recognised it for breaching a boundary that should have been upheld on his end and quite literally collectively ended the community overnight ā somehow the vast majority of fans on twitter are blindly promoting the narrative of his innocence and even worse, acting like itās all just some silly drama to be mocked and treated lightheartedly because theyāre operating on the very misguided (and dare i say brainwashed) assumption that the allegations were proved false. when they were not. yes the multiple stories are complicating things but letās make one thing very clear: in his twitlonger dream says this.
in the messages he is referring to asĀ āreal,āĀ he willingly gave a fan his private snapchat. that is objectively creepy, regardless of if he thought she was 17 or freshly 18 at the time. i seriously cannot begin to fathom how anyone could possibly see that as appropriate behaviour in the slightest. if you are determined toĀ āstay neutralā and are wary of false allegations ā this part, at the very least, is not false. dream admitted to this himself. i am begging some of you to think critically about this, especially if you were previously a fan of his. i know a lot of us accustomed ourselves to his more parasocial behaviour and often excused/supported it, but this undeniably crosses a line. dream, as an insanely famous content creator, should not have been the one to encourage a one on one conversation with a younger female fan to be taken to snapchat of all platforms ā let alone his personal snapchat!! and once again, this is me ignoring the other, even more disturbing allegations from the victim; this is specifically about what dream has owned up to doing, and it is not okay.Ā
not a single content creator has talked about this with any sort of critical lens. his fans are claiming that the messages werenāt that bad and are digging through the victimās personal life in order to ādebunkā her story. i am furious that so many are turning a blind eye to the fact the power dynamic at play here is nothing but fucking predatory.Ā
