The Fast Metabolism Diet
Ever since I was a kid, when I developed hypothyroidism, my metabolism has been really slow. I took synthroid and my bloodwork always looks ok now, but my metabolism was never fast -- not even when I was a teenager, when your metabolism is usually speediest. Even when I went gluten-free, I didn’t lose weight, even though I was eating lots of veggies and not supplementing with all the extra-caloric gf treats. This was always something I felt I just had to deal with, even though I was afraid that as I get older, my metabolism would continue to slow.Â
And then, over the summer, a friend told me that she had done the Fast Metabolism Diet by Haylie Pomroy, and had lots of success with it. And I, typically not a dieter, decided to give it a try. For a 28-day commitment, following the meals and plan, I feel like a totally new person. I’m energetic and my skin is glowing, and I lost a little weight that I’ve been struggling to shed with exercise and calorie-restriction (aka hello, misery).Â
Anyway, I’m also really excited to be cooking most of my meals again (another habit I was really trying and failing to keep up), and YOU GUYS THE FOOD I AM MAKING! It’s delicious. Did you know there’s tons of delicious recipes out there?! I’m excited about food again in a way I haven’t been since takeout became a staple of my diet, and it feels great and I wanted to share!Â
