you just got off work. two hours later than it should have been. it pisses you off, big time. you take your hand and delve down into the back pocket of the bleached skinny jeans you probably should get rid of. you mentally freak out for a second. "where's my phone?!" color drains from your face as you frantically search your entire body looking for your phone. you didn't bring a bag, right? did you get pick pocketed? tears start to fall down your cheeks as you can't find it anywhere. you swiftly wipe your tears and make a run towards the office, not noticing that you had put a bag full of food from the office down onto the ground when you left the building. inside the bag, was your phone at 12%. but you raced up the stairs, used your card for the elevator, and ran towards your desk. you looked everywhere. you asked people. one of your coworkers, and also good friend, namjoon, said that you had left with a bag of food that your boss has given you. it clicked. "right, i put my phone in that bag... where's the bag?!" you exclaimed in your head. you rushed back down and burst out the door, but the bag had been opened and dug into. no phone, no food. you stomped on the bag, trying to look around it to see if it fell out of the bag when you put it down. the odds that someone found a phone just on the ground and ignored it were impeccably low. your phone was stolen. you checked your front pocket for your wallet, and thankfully it was still there. tears fell onto the leather pouch as you looked inside to find a couple bills. enough for a small meal. you decided to get some food then ask some local authorities. "food where.. oh right"
you found your feet bringing you to your favorite diner. you always went there when something was wrong. but your mood was always lifted by some delicious key lime pie served by a handsome waiter. his name? yoongi. at least, that was what was on his name tag. you walked in the restaurant looking glum. right away, from across the room, you spotted yoongi cleaning up a corner table. a waitress greeted you with a smile and sat you at an old-fashioned booth table. she introduced herself and said she'd be your waitress for the day. that lasted about two seconds since yoongi pushed her aside and said, and i quote, "the tables over there are done, you can stop taking my job now, julia." you giggled a bit as julia walked off looking offended. "hello, maria. are you alright?" he asked. the first time you had ordered a key lime pie with him as your waiter, you were crying. it was because that day, you dropped out of the honors society. he sat with you for a while, rambled on about how being in the honors society doesn't matter. but he listened to what you had to say and that's all that mattered to you. "hey, yoongi. i'm not feeling too good. i'll get the usual," you said, closing the menu. he smiled softly and walked away with the menu.
around 15 minutes later, a warm key lime pie with extra whipped cream was brought to your table by yoongi. "there you are, my so obviously joyful and peachy princess. now tell me, what happened?" he asked as he placed the plate in front of you. he wasn't sitting down, which was odd, but you didn't question it. "i lost my phone, and my free food. and i got off work two hours later than needed cause of a plumbing issue," you complained, digging into your key lime pie. he added extra whip, which you love. "plumbing? that's not even your fault, right? unless you clogged the toilet," he said. you laughed a bit. he slid into the booth opposite to you.
talking with him was your favorite thing. every conversation was pure and raw honesty. it made you glad that you came to the diner when it was 20 minutes to closing. that meant he could sit down with you. he always listened and backed you up. even if the situation was your fault, partially or completely. "riria, i can help you find a part-time job so you can get a new phone. maybe you can dishwash here. and as for the food, never worry about that. and hey.. i've been meaning to ask, you wanna go out sometime? like.. outside the diner," he said. you felt flustered. you had just been ... asked out? by yoongi? i mean, you had always called him the handsome waiter. which was true to life. but he was so much more than just a handsome waiter. he was a kind and genuine person. and he seemed to take interest in you just as you had in him six months ago when you started going to the diner. why not try it out?
