Glimpses of a Trebled Mind

There's quite a few trends on my music blog, including folk and indie music, so I thought I'd change it up today with some electronica. Check out All Caps, a great band that started out on Youtube!

Thought their albums are just starting to be released now, Scars on 45 has been around for years. I first heard this song in 2009 I think. A lovely tune!

One of my favourite tunes to just dance around the house to. A great way to end your summer vacation!

In honour of my friend Steph moving away this weekend for college, this is a song she sang in show choir a few years ago!

I first discovered this band via Darren Criss, as his younger brother Chuck is the electric guitar player (as well as so many other instruments!)

Led Zeppelin. 'Nuff said.

A kickass punk trio from Canada, Courage My Love is wonderful! I love how they balance out their harsh chords with feisty lyrics. 

James Vincent McMorrow is basically the Irish version of Bon Iver. Beautiful meaningful lyrics, soulful melodies, perfect combination!

The uber-romantic theme song from the movie Ice Castles, Through the Eyes of Love is one of my favourite love ballads. 

If you haven't seen the 2011 film The Descendants, please do. It's a wonderfully artistic and realistic film about death, infidelity, and life in Hawaii. The score and soundtrack are jam-packed with beautiful music like this, my favourite song.

This song, and accompanying music video, bring up the stereotype of "white trash culture" that circulates in a lot of country music. Sometimes we ostracise others who talk with accents, are less financially responsible, etc. without recognizing that they have similar interests, especially for wanting relationships and to be loved.

If you are on Tumblr, or just the internet in general, and you haven't heard of Alex Day... go listen to Alex Day! A wonderful Youtube vlogger, Alex has a wicked talent for catchy tunes and wonderful music videos. 

Australian comedian Tim Minchin is known for his hilarious, and sometimes offensive, songs and sense of humour. He played this song as part of the Concert for Diana. Keep it classy Tim!

I can't remember how I discovered Brooke Waggoner but either way I'm glad that I did. She has a magical way of combining piano, lyrics, and her amazing voice into this beautiful combination of awesomeness. That was not a particularly articulate description of her style but it gets you invested. ;)

OK Go is a rock band known for their amazing, creative, and unique music videos. Please check them out!
