These women came to their doctors because they have a disease that is painful, understudied, and underdiagnosed, and their doctors, frankly, betrayed them.

I don’t want to talk about the results because they don’t fucking MATTER, this study should never have been proposed, funded, peer reviewed, or published. It’s bad science for bad reasons.

This line of research may shed light on the hormones or genes linked with women’s risk of developing the uterine condition, the researchers said.

While it’s not exactly clear why women with severe endometriosis may be more attractive than others, the hormone estrogen could play a role, the researchers said. Studies have shown that more-attractive women have higher levels of estrogen, and higher levels of the hormone also may be linked with the development of endometriosis.

This may offend your sensitivities, but for biologists it’s a step in creating diagnostic tools and mapping the genes which could put you at risk for endo. This is helping women with endo to be diagnosed.

Do you honestly think scientists create such a study because they wanna see how haaaawwwwtttt women are? I think they can judge that for themselves. And even if they did do it for perverted reasons–which I doubt, because it was performed by two female doctors as well–the findings were useful for treating endo.

Let me do some basic math for you. Cats, a hostile and non native predator, are incredibly deadly and efficient. No amount of bells or brightly colored accessories fix this.

So say one cat, your cat, only kills an animal three times a week. An easy conversation number, it’s likely much more. That’s 12 animals dead a month. That’s 144 animals dead a year. From one cat. There are about 74,059,000 cats in the US alone. That’s 10,664,496,000 dead animals from an non native species a year. In the US alone. Those are extinction numbers, kid. And it shows.

Cats are domesticated, they’re literally bred to be inside.

I remember being in early college, telling someone about how I hated living next to Frat Row and that I only ever crossed the street if a ~white male~ was walking towards me. (uωu)🌸

I remember that ... and I fucking cringe thinking about how virtue-signal-y that was (yes, I was on tumblr ... socialling a great many justices). I have a friend who keeps doing that now (“When I’m applying for jobs I just think, ‘What would an ENTITLED WHITE MALE do??’”/“I only lock the doors if I see a WHITE MALE near the car.”) and I’m thinking back to when I did that, and what made me stop.

And, well ... it was when one of my friends — who was male but not white — drugged me on one occasion (luckily other people were around) and tried to rape me on another. I never told a soul that, while I wasn’t suddenly afraid of Mexican guys, I had panic attacks if I was near men who smelled of weed. Against that real fear, I began to feel the emptiness behind virtue signaling. I’m afraid of white men because ... I’m supposed to be and it gets me back pats.

So, now virtue signaling grates on me. Every time an upper-middle-class white girl tells me how scared she is of white guys opening the car door and kidnapping her because she saw some white football players not get charged for rape (I wish I was making this one up...) I just ... GAH. It’s so empty. It doesn’t do anything useful.

But why, whyyyyy exactly does virtue signaling bother me so much? I could just ignore it, right?

I am a queer, trans, disabled, autistic pagan mess and I’ve had conversations with conservatives about abortion that were more civil and productive than the times I’ve brought up — par example — that classism plays heavily into how the coastal elites talk about southerners.

Beekeepers make sure hives are fed before there is pollen in the air, protected from predators and the elements, and have enough honey to sustain themselves. We don’t take all of it.

But overproduction of honey leads to stagnation in the hive. It puts stress on the queen to lay eggs, and when they inevitably fill up all their space with honey (instead of filling up the multiple empty, clean boxes of frames beekeepers might put on top of the main hive box), the queen can get so stressed she dies. If there’s a spike in the weather and the hive hasn’t prepared new queen brood, that’s it! The colony is dead. Because there wasn’t enough space for eggs and honey in the hive.

Beekeepers take excess honey. We are constantly monitoring the state of the hive, checking for parasites, analyzing the eggs for diseases, and making sure they are fed and healthy (usually with sugar water and pollen substitutes until they have made enough honey to sustain themselves in the early spring months). If a queen dies prematurely, we make every attempt to replace her to save the colony.

I know there’s an urge to patronize everyone who works in the farming industry, but try to understand the differences between small scale agriculture and industrial farming. There IS a difference. And stop spreading misinformation.

If you’re this passionate about ethical consumption, look into some of the ecofeminist research on non-hierarchal interspecies relationships (working on building animal-human relationships in a non exploitative way).

Yea Chickens are some of the most abused animals on big factory farms and I’ll be the first to admit it’s criminal and more needs to be done to regulate this.

Yes selective breeding over time has caused an increase in the ammount of eggs produced by chickens and factory farms have some messed up practices to get more eggs from them including forced moutling.

Tbh, I never really gave a shit before, but this smug, vindictive hypocrisy is getting on my last nerve.

Just to elaborate a bit here.

3) I don’t like double standards. Many of the people who cause a ruckus over whitewashing and cultural appropriation are the same ones making all the “Lol white people mad” comments now.

See: The complaints about the cast of Aladdin (an originally Chinese tale, mind you) being whitewashed.

I see two people who are white. Two. Out of how many? And one of them isn’t actually shown in the film. He’s voicing one of the non-human characters.

And……..none of them are Chinese. 

4) Disney has been butchering other people’s creations for decades without so much as a nod to the original creators, or the cultures they take them from. That’s one reason why I do not like them and haven’t liked them for years. But as far as being offended, Disney has done a lot worse than pander for a quick cash grab so I’d hardly put this at the top of the list.

5) I didn’t fall off the turnip truck yesterday so can we stop pretending this has anything to do with representation?

6) I want to see more Asian, Native American, and disabled female characters. They are all wildly underrepresented (even more so than black characters), but I will not accept this lazy trend of race-bending, gender-bending, and appropriated stories taken from other creators. 

7) I’m not interested in “claiming” already-established characters, or “getting back” at other demographics. That’s not what representation is about.

8) Complaining about people who criticize a corporation that only cares about raking in huge profits with the least amount of effort is not a good look. Children deserve better than sloppy seconds (and exploitative slave labor). 

9) But hey, maybe that’s just me.

10) If you want to fork over your hard-earned money for less than the bare minimum, that’s your choice. But please stop insulting everyone else’s intelligence by trying to convince us that Disney gives a shit about anything other than their bottom line.

Well, many times those kind of episodes came from TNG, but it is true. Holding up the ‘If this isn’t actually causing harm, what right do we have to change them?’ as a concept is something we miss a lot these days.

Mr. Darcy is almost a textbook case of social anxiety, which manifests differently in men than it does in women. Women with social anxiety can get mistaken for being cold, while men with the same condition get tarred with the “toxic masculinity” brush. 

Because social anxiety gets mistaken for rudeness, Elizabeth was biased towards him after one meeting. And since then his every action, even positive, got misinterpreted by her as mockery. Even though the readers know he is in love with her, his social aversion causes these feelings to manifest as avoidance and hesitation… which again, gets misconstrued as arrogance. 

Contrast that with Wickham, who knows how to speak in a charming fashion with everyone, so everyone of course assumes he’s a “good sociable guy” unlike the “cold and arrogant Mr. Darcy.” Well, look how that turned out. And because of people’s wrong interpretation of Darcy, when he tells the truth, nobody believes him. 

Luckily in 2019, social anxiety disorder can be treated. Those people can learn how to modify their behaviour so that others don’t avoid them and most importantly can overcome their fear of people.
