I see youāre having a little trouble with reading comprehension andā¦apparently geography too so lemme help you out.
1) Danes arenāt from Norway. Theyāre from Denmark which is a completely different country.Ā
2) Iām not on the right. If youāre going to make assumptions about me, Iāll make twice as many about you.
3) I know it doesnāt make sense. In fact, I said that exact same thing just the other day.
Just to elaborate a bit here.
3) I donāt like double standards. Many of the people who cause a ruckus over whitewashing and cultural appropriationĀ are the same ones making all theĀ āLol white people madā comments now.
See: The complaints about the cast of Aladdin (an originally Chinese tale, mind you) being whitewashed.
I see two people who are white. Two. Out of how many? And one of them isnāt actually shown in the film. Heās voicing one of the non-human characters.
Andā¦ā¦..none of them are Chinese.Ā
4) Disney has been butchering other peopleās creations for decades without so much as a nod to the original creators, or the cultures they take them from. Thatās one reason why I do not like them and havenāt liked them for years. But as far as being offended, Disney has done a lot worse than pander for a quick cash grab so Iād hardly put this at the top of the list.
5) I didnāt fall off the turnip truck yesterday so can we stop pretending this has anything to do with representation?
6) I want to see more Asian, Native American, and disabled female characters. They are all wildly underrepresented (even more so than black characters), but I will not accept this lazy trend of race-bending, gender-bending, and appropriated stories taken from other creators.Ā
7) Iām not interested inĀ āclaimingā already-established characters, or āgetting backā at other demographics. Thatās not what representation is about.
8) Complaining about people who criticize a corporation that only cares about raking in huge profits with the least amount of effort is not a good look. Children deserve better than sloppy seconds (and exploitative slave labor).Ā
9) But hey, maybe thatās just me.
10) If you want to fork over your hard-earned money for less than the bare minimum, thatās your choice. But please stop insulting everyone elseās intelligence by trying to convince us that Disney gives a shit about anything other than their bottom line.Ā
11) I mean, look how well they did with their āfirst openly gay characterā. Nope, no pandering there. They totally didnāt get everyone hyped up for the Big Gay Moment⢠that turned out to be: āHey, weāre two men dancing togetherā¦.by accident! But weāll go with itā¦.for a whopping two seconds! Wow, this is so gay!!!ā
