Makoto is so confused at this, it would also be intresting if Kokichi takes it further and further since most think it's a bit, he wants to extend that, like having some weird makoto binder or shirt or shrine in his dorm room, even funnier if he's really chill about it and makes it look like it's all a bit, escalating to a point where makoto and kokichi are in kokichi's dorm maybe for some studying or something and makoto just stares at the weird shrine of him and finally realizes 'oh it's not a joke'

I like to think that Makoto periodically says, "You're just kidding, right?" and Kokichi oscillates between claiming he's joking and flatly saying that he's dead serious.

When Makoto sees the shrine Kokichi has set up in his dorm room, at first he's like, "...Ha ha, did you set up a whole shrine just to freak me out?"

And Kokichi is like, "Yep! 😁 It was just for that. 😁 You know me so well. 😁 You should see the look on your face. 😁"

But then Makoto starts to notice things about the shrine, like Hey, that's the souvenir I got from Sayaka's concert. I've been wondering where that was, and Even as a joke, to have this many sketches and doodles of me must have taken time...

And there are sticky notes all over the shrine. Little thoughts and reminders. Some just say logistical stuff like "Fire hazard (major)" or "2 days to get rid of apple core". But some is emotive. Like, "Hey, what if I murdered the richest teen on earth?" positioned near what Makoto is pretty sure is a pen he gave Byakuya once.

Again. More time, effort, and thought than one would likely dedicate to a joke.

"What is it?" Kokichi says innocently. Crossing his legs in a way that draws attention to his shoes, where he's written Makoto's name over and over again on the rubber soles. Makoto has even seen him do it, when he's bored– just click his pen and start scrawling Makoto's name on his shoes.

"Hey. All of this stuff...It's a lot, isn't it?" Makoto probes.

"What 'stuff'?" Kokichi says.

"The drawings of me, the photos of me, the...my stuff...."

"Finders keepers." He shrugged.

"It just looks like it took you a lot of time, and...I don't know, isn't that kind of a lot?"

Kokichi grins and switches to sitting crisscross-applesauce. "By 'a lot', do you mean 'too much'?"

"Well...yes."

"Then no. I'd say it's just the right amount to keep my simmering obsession at bay."

"And you're still just joking about that, right?"

"Oh, that was never a joke. But I figured, if I can't be normal about you and I can't chain you in a basement, I may as well find a way to make my obsession work in polite company. Neehee!"

Makoto gawks at him. "How...? Me?"

"I know, right?" With an exasperated lip trill, Kokichi switches to yet another sitting position. "You have no idea how much you've been making me suffer, these past few weeks. My only real consolation is that I still might be lying about the whole thing."

"I don't think you're lying."

"Then there goes my only consolation! Now look what you did!" Kokichi rolls up his pant leg to reveal that his shoes aren't the only place that have been graffitied by Makoto's name in dark purple ink.

"What I did?!" Makoto protests.

"You made it real by believing it was true. Quick, change your mind, and maybe it'll go away!"

"...I think you just don't want to finish studying the Taisho period."

I am begging the UK trans community and its allies to attend the Mass Lobby at Parliament on June 25th, 11am-4pm, organised by Trans Solidarity Alliance.

The new EHRC Code of Practice pushes trans people out of toilets, hospital wards, and community spaces. It normalises gender policing based on appearance and stereotypes. It becomes statutory guidance in the UK by the end of June.

Trans people are now legally their assigned gender at birth and must join gendered spaces accordingly, but if they are perceived as their lived gender, they can also be ejected from those spaces. The guidance says: either break the law, or don’t pass too well.

A mass lobby is where you invite your MP to discuss your concerns with you in-person. Ask your MP to:

Demand full parliamentary scrutiny, debate, and use their free vote on the EHRC Code of Practice.

Support any motions rejecting the EHRC guidance. As of June 4th, Labour MP Nadia Whittome has submitted a prayer motion - Early Day Motion 240.

Your MP does not have to be an ally, they do not have to respond to your email for you to show up and greencard them (details below the cut.) What matters is that as many people as possible show up.

I cannot stress this enough: Showing up in person matters. It is much more effective than petitions, emails, and letters.

It is a horrible, stressful time, and I am so sorry if you're trans and live in the UK. But I was at last year's mass lobby and the line for greencarding alone stretched around the back gates. It was a record breaking mass lobby and made us impossible to ignore. Let's do even better this time. Details under the cut:

Oh, so many possibilities. My immediate urge is to make Kokichi the yandere, and I'm kinda following that for now.

On one hand, this ask came at a time when my brain was still pretty into the Makoto cults, so honorable mention to the idea of the THH survivors stumbling into DICE territory after escaping the school and Kokichi being parasocially obsessed with Makoto from TV. (I'm saying "honorable mention" because this is the kind of situation I would normally give to Nagito, so while I do welcome the chance to explore how I might characterize the two differently in similar scenarios, I feel I should try a scenario that feels more Kokichi-specific.) But just to flesh this one out before I move on, this version of Kokichi was going to attend Hope's Peak as a member of the 79th class, but then the Tragedy happened. Knowing that he would have been a Hope's Peak student made the killing game hit different for him and gave fuel to his parasocial obsession with Makoto. Okay, now I'll move on.

Alternately:

Underclassman Kokichi being openly obsessed with Makoto. (Maybe in the Hope's Peak Yandere AU, or maybe not.) Like, gluing pictures of Makoto to the outside of his regular school notebook, maybe taping pictures of Makoto around his shoe locker or something, bringing up Makoto-senpai in casual conversation out of nowhere. When he interacts directly with Makoto himself, he's fairly normal (or, Kokichi-normal). He'll have a whole regular conversation with Makoto while openly holding his Makoto-covered notebook like it's nothing. Makoto tentatively regards this as an elaborate prank/bit/joke on Kokichi's part. Some other people also reach that conclusion. Some people have their doubts.

Makoto in V3 AU, except with a Yandere Kokichi who tries to steer the killing game in the direction of Makoto surviving with some chosen other person. Maybe Gonta, since he believes Gonta will protect Makoto. And maybe even in this version of events he still has to sacrifice Gonta, so the intensity of his guilt in turn intensifies his plans to have Makoto survive with someone who can take care of him.

Changeling AU Yandere Faerie Kokichi would be so great. Imagine Kokichi asked for Makoto's name at some point and then just has it for years, holding the ability to control him in some way but not using it, until he feels he has no choice but to use it. Bonus points if that's how Makoto finds out he's a faerie. Like, he's been friends with Kokichi for years, they disagree about something, and Kokichi feels strongly enough about the disagreement to take away his free will, and it turns out Kokichi's been a faerie this whole time! The creature the whole town is afraid of! And Makoto cares about his friend, so he would never tell anyone, but he doesn't get a chance to show that, because Kokichi forbids him from telling.

Kokichi already being employed by Future Foundation as a kind of prodigy strategist when Makoto and the other survivors show up. Kokichi playing things pretty cool for a while, just seeming like a regular advisor type person, albeit one with a kind of boyish, mischievous energy. He has a penchant for treating people like characters or chess pieces, but that's not too far out of the ordinary in this place. Then one day, Makoto is alone in a room with him, and Kokichi goes blank-face-sprite and says, "You know, you were my favorite player even before we knew you were going to win." Makoto is kind of just like "Huh?" "In the game. You were my favorite, almost from the beginning." It's eerie to see Kokichi's face without any grin or other extreme expression in place. "It was annoying to have to watch without being able to sway the outcome. But now I can." And he does grin, then.
