But I have also been in a parasocial relationship with Tom Holland for 10 years and it’s killing me a little bit to see someone as incredible as Zendaya to be practically living out my fairytale fantasy and for it to be such a beautiful and honest and genuine love.

the problem started when the duffers realized stranger things was such a big phenomenon.

it was meant to be a smaller project, with a smaller budget. a show that relied on its storytelling and its characters. it was meant to be what the montauk project originally intended.

after ten years, it got out of their hands, they made it so much bigger and ambitious than it had to be, and therefore, couldn’t give it an appropriate ending to everything they unnecessarily built up to.

not being able to cope with your ego can be really dangerous. it can surely take you to the top, and the world will constantly remind you of your greatness and so, reassure the views you have of yourself.

however, it can also do you dirty, and make you think that everything you do should and will be great, because… all evidence points to it, right? and then you forget the heart of your art. you forget everything you initially wanted, curated, wrote, erased and wrote again for it to be perfect. you forget that there was something bigger than the praise, and the budgets, and the fame. you get lost in your own greatness.

and above everything that has already been said, i’d like to bring to the table if they even wrote that scene thinking about what nancy and jonathan were doing in that moment, or was it just a way to move the story forward?

what i mean by this is that, the couple was confessing stuff to each other first and foremost because they were about to die!!! all they could really do was leave all the unsaid out in the open because, well, what else could they do?

so, if they thought they were going to die… why on earth would they “break up”? and even if they did, the scene would (sorta) only make sense until they got out of that place alive, and the storyline continues, and now they can rediscover themselves or whatever.

the fact that duffers specified it, proves that they wrote it just because they wanted it to happen, they had no real reasoning whatsoever nor the slightest consideration for the actual characters.
