keep seeing people talking about how Gon Isn't Selfish, Actually lately and it's driving me bonkers. like im sorry i get what you're saying about people misinterpreting gon and outright calling him evil, those people are nuts and i don't know where their eyes even are, but the thing IS is that if you're going to talk about gon as a flawed, nuanced character, you're going to have to accept that one of those flaws *is* in fact selfishness. like he KNEW killua's hands were getting fucked up in that dodgeball game *because of him* and still kept playing the exact same anyway. and then he almost outs their entire deal to the bomber and his toadies over basically skype chat immediately afterwards because he's still focused on his own wants and isn't considering what's best for anyone else ex. his injured friend!! and like yeah tszegerra made him apologize afterwards, but he never apologized directly to *killua* or changed his behaviour, either - literally within that same arc we see him going completely off track with their plan to take down genthru just so he can have the satisfaction of a real fight, despite the fact he only gets hurt worse while also potentially endangering bisky and killua. and i know a major part of the dodgeball game is gon's views around how if someone agrees to combat and gets hurt in the course of duking it out it's different and almost justified in a way it wouldn't be if a bystander/someone who didn't want to engage in that fight got hurt, and honestly i can't say i even totally disagree with that viewpoint, but that doesn't change the fact that it was a selfish thing to do!!! like even if killua's willing to sacrifice his safety a) that's fucked up and gon shouldn't be taking advantage of that, and b) this is only happening because gon didn't want to win on a technicality. and this is just the stuff that happens greed island (and not even all of it). BUT!!! this also doesn't automatically make gon a bad person!!! ALL kids are going to do selfish things sooner or later, because they're still *learning*, and the fact that gon never has to face real consequences for the fallout of that selfishness speaks more to the failings of the adults around him than it does to anything particular about him. gon IS a super compassionate kid who cares about the people around him and has a lot of curiousity about their inner worlds, but he hasn't learned how to translate any of that to empathy yet, and so his kindness does not negate the fact that he's still capable of selfishness and brazen disregard, not to mention outright harm

call the pharmacy to get a refill on my prescription and the woman goes "oh, you should still have a month left at home." baffling because i finished my last month like two weeks ago and i know this for a fact but i tell her thanks and say i'll check. i find nothing, obviously, so a couple hours later i call again. the woman i talk to this time sounds a little confused, like what she's looking at on the computer on her end doesn't make sense, but she confirms the brand of contraceptive and when my doctor last renewed my prescription, and sends the refills through. when i get to the pharmacy the tech at the counter informs me that according to the system i'm 35 days early (???) and i'll have to pay a charge ($40 for three months of birth control which is whatever, it could be worse i don't really gaf), so i agree to pay but tell her i'm absolutely sure i used all of my last batch, and she agrees it's strange and encourages me to take a look just in case but we both come away very confused. i don't know if something happened when my doctor renewed my refills back in april that caused a glitch in their system but i have been over this backwards and forwards and upside down and im dead certain i got my usual three months last time and used them all up. if anything im behind schedule because i was off the pill for a while when i was taking pain meds and blood thinners for my ankle. good god can i have *one* stress-free refill with this pharmacy 😭😭

thinking abt that scene in '99 hxh where killua has reunited with the main four and he and gon are up late at night talking on the train with their heads under the curtain so they can look out the window. i miss them sooooooo bad. my babies.....

togashi gave us you are light and saiaku shinjuu da na and you're the one gon needs most and the anime team took that and gave us one million billion frames of killua watching gon tenderly and episode previews and bonuses where they flirt and hold hands and kiss and say "i love you" and wish to stay together forever including in their next lives and mariya "diehard killua fan since the age of 12" ise put her whole everything into acting killua as lovelorn as she possibly could and yuzu wrote like three different themes for the show that are all arguably love songs one of which opens with the lyrics "i'm here, as close as i can be / for now that's good enough / you started to say it once before / let me hear the rest of that dream" and there's personal art from animators on the show that's tantamount to ship art and killua's birthday is literally on tanabata. happy pride
