“Stella’s convinced she’s too old for trick or treating this year, and decided she wants to stay home and give out candy to other kids instead,” Owen shook his head, chuckling to himself as he spoke to the person beside him. “She’s seven. I thought I had at least another five years before I had to worry about her deciding she’s too cool for things. –She still wants to dress up, at least, but that’s a whole other thing. One of her ideas for a costume is goin’ as Gertie Garfunkle.” 

Hillie didn’t have full custody of her daughter yet. Just partial. The judge and her parole officer wanted to see how she did with Willow before they agreed to give her any more than that. Two days a week plus every other weekend. That was the agreement. It was always hard to drop her daughter off with her mother or sister or whoever was taking her for the night. She missed the girl like crazy but when she got to pick her up? It was her favorite thing in the world. Standing in the doorway, she grinned at the sight of her sister and daughter. @ginnymaeyoung 

“Hey, Hillie! Look, Willow, it’s mama!” she said excitedly to the young girl as she opened the door. “We had a good night last night. Ate some spaghettios and read some Dr. Seuss. It was a good time,” Ginny smiled as she looked up at her sister. She knew this was hard for her and she wished it could be easier, but this was the hand they were dealt, so they had to deal with it as it stood. “You wanna come in and hang out?”

“They should have a haunted hay ride for people over the age of you know, like ten or somethin’. Over 18 would be even better. Then I bet you anything you’d be shakin’ in your boots,” Ginny laughed. “We should really look into gettin’ an adult one goin’. I’d go in a heart beat!”

“You should definitely get festive and I say Bobbie Jo from Petticoat Junction. I don’t remember which one Bobbie Jo is but I loved Petticoat Junction growin’ up,” she smiled. “It’d definitely bring back memories!”

Corrine was exhausted. She’d just finished teaching her last ballet class for the day and her babysitter had dropped the kids off to her, so it seemed that she couldn’t even catch a moment to herself to wind down from the day. Instead, she was stuck with two rambunctious children who wanted to go out for ice cream and see a movie, when she just wanted to go home and rest for a while. Despite the yelling and screaming coming from the kids wanting her to hurry up, she’d managed to change into her street clothes and shove her things in her duffel bag, slinging it over her shoulder.

Ginny Mae was finishing up her shift at Lowry’s and headed home despite repeated attempts to get Len to go get some wings with her. She slung her bag over her shoulder and was walking down the street, admittedly not paying attention to her surroundings, ear buds in. It wasn’t until she was struck that she actually realized there were other people around. “Sh--oot,” she said with a hiss, realizing there were kids around. 

“Y’all gonna help me with this?” Mark asked impatiently, turning his laptop that he had been prodding at for the last five minutes. “Keeps saying something about sticking keys. I ain’t spilled on it so what the fu-dge is it moanin’ about? All I wanted to do was find the damn game results that I missed. Mark Zucchini-berg hacked my ‘puter too?” @frostfordstart

Popping in her earbuds, Nico pressed play on her playlist and started off running down the sidewalk. Maybe it was in her blood by now thanks to all those years living on military bases, but she also found herself feeling the need to get at least a few miles in a day. With Journey streaming through her ears, she was so wrapped up in her own little world that she nearly ran into someone walking. Quickly skipping to steps over, she ran into a wall of a building, scraping her shoulder on the rough surface. “Damn it,” She groaned, placing her hand on her slightly bloody shoulder as she looked up at the person. “I didn’t hit you did I?” @frostfordstart

Ginny Mae had been deep in her phone when she looked up, gasping as she quickly moved out of the way of the runner and off to the side, nearly toppling over into the bush. She stood up straight and shook her head at the question, picking her phone up from the ground. “No, no! It’s--I’m fine. You didn’t hit me, but are you okay?” she asked, looking at the girl’s shoulder. “Do you want me to run in and get some napkins?” she said, looking at the little cafe they were in front of. “Maybe some water?”

“Oh, no worries! I’m in no rush,” she smiled. “Cute dog! Is it okay to pet it?” she asked, still smiling as her gaze turned to the dog.
