I like being involved in interesting and creative things. I’d just rather be involved in creating it, rather than being in it.
Take a deep breath | Riley & Annabelle
"Don’t yell at me," Riley snapped, "I’m not exactly happy right now either. I wake up, everything smells of werewolf and it isn’t exactly pretty. Especially now you’re soaked in water. But that’s my fault. Your mattress is horrifying too." He had decided it wasn’t best to argue with Annabelle, only to argue anyway - not a huge problem, after all she was generally compliant and kept her mouth shut when other people spoke. That’s what he thought anyway. He’d also thought Annabelle never raised her voice over usual speaking volume, which had turned out to be a wrong assumption. So he followed her orders to sit on the unappealing arm chair, his eyes constantly watching her in case she tried anything. Of course, it would have been hilarious if she did but Riley was starting to feel the ‘Miss Sunshine’ personality was a mask.
Until she apologized. He continued to simply watch her movements, frowning as she rubbed her nose with the reverse of her hand. She kept quiet - was it his turn to speak? “Allergies, Lucky?” Probably not the best thing he was supposed to say in reply, in fact it wasn’t useful at all to this situation but he had nothing else on his mind. What she was about to say could change that, but until then Riley had nothing to discuss. He wanted answers, not a general chit-chat with this girl. That was reserved for friends, or people that came close to it anyway.
Everything she said came out in a blur; fortunately Riley managed to catch most of it and fill in the rest in his head. “Okay.” He said simply as he tried to get his head around the situation and the reasons for his mind being scattered about the events. “I’m not leaving until I get the full story.” There may have been some truth to what she’d said - he did remember the man from last night, not exactly in the most positive light. Yet a stunning spell did not cause a person to lose events recent to them. He would know, plenty times at school he was on the receiving end of one of them. Trust the red-head to lie to him - wasn’t she above that?
Annabelle didn’t know how to react to all the criticism she was receiving other than to just take it, accept it and move on. Sure she stank of werewolf; she was a werewolf for Merlin’s sake. He smelt as every bit as inhuman as she did, there was really nothing new there. At least he hadn’t called her a dog or any other derogatory names regarding her species. It wasn’t as if she’d chosen this fate – okay, that was a lie. She could have chosen death, but had preferred to keep a beating heart with warm blood pumping through her veins. Unlike Riley who... well, she wasn’t exactly sure if he had a beating heart and warm blood running through his veins. She suspected not.
“My nose is sensitive, actually.” She replied, ignoring the nickname he’d given her twice now. Annabelle knew exactly what the name was implying and had decided to just ignore any comments Riley made. He generally wasn’t a happy person, she knew that and didn’t expect anything more from him. A little respect might have been nice but apparently, unless you sucked blood you weren’t worthy of such a thing. Now she was being rude. Not like she’d said anything out loud, but it was getting into her head which would soon cloud over her rational thinking. She didn’t need that, she needed to be unbiased during this conversation no matter what she was beginning to think about the man. “I don’t have allergies. I don’t think so anyway.”
She knew this would happen. She knew her lying wouldn’t have been seen as the truth, that he’d catch on quickly to her lack of information. It wasn’t as though she wanted to keep anything from him, but it was better this way for sure. “I am telling you the whole story. It’s not the most detailed of events, but it outlines what happened and that’s what you wanted to know. If we could just put this behind us, move on and forget about it then we’d be fine. You can just pretend we’ve never even spoken.” At least she didn’t have to face him at work because that would have been highly uncomfortable. Instead, the only time they would ever need to talk would be now. As soon as she got rid of him the better.
She doesn’t seem to have a purpose except for getting Katniss to volunteer. Her death didn’t bother me at all.
She helped a lot during Mockingjay - you know, before she died.

I did! It’s rather deep for a young adult novel, although I never did like Prim.
Really? I thought she was strong for a minor character.
I find it rather sad that I’ve only started reading the Hunger Games series now. Am I the only one?
Did you like it?
Oh, you don’t need to thank me, they confused me a lot when I first tried using them, too. Okay, a trade it is. Now let’s just hope it doesn’t get stuck in the rings.
Hope what doesn't get stuck in what rings?
It’s okay, just remember what the instructor did. If you lean back or forwards you can control your speed, more or less.
Okay, thank you. On the count of three?
Well, um, wrinkly pieces of paper don’t fit very well and vending machines won’t take them. You can use one of mine?
That's very inconvenient. Really? Thank you. You can take my wrinkly one and use it... somewhere else that isn't a vending machine, I guess. Thank you, again.

Come on. You’re going to be perfectly fine.
Says the ex-Gryffindor who has probably said that plenty of times before breaking an arm.
I don’t mean to be rude, but I don’t think you’re doing that the right way.
Oh. Could you please tell me how?
Any particular reason as to why not?
For starters, it's illegal.
Have you ever flown a broom before? It’s sort of like that but without the broom.
Yes, though I tend to avoid that method but at least I can control a broom. I can't control this once I've started.
Why not?
I like my bones exactly where they are at the moment, thank you.

Might.
A very large might.
Ziplining is perfectly safe and you can’t just say no when you’ve already got your harness on and everything.
Look how far down the ground is.
