some people have been trying to rehabilitate the idea of "TVP for trans men," and I'd like to ask that these projects don't try to deliberately style themselves as counterparts to TVP

TVP is not the pink version of something blue, its existence since the outset has been as a fundamentally transfeminist project, and this purpose will be trivialized if it is presented on the same "shelf" as anything else, so to speak. TVP centers transfems because we are decentered everywhere else. if there is a companion project, our voices will inevitably be decentered in favor of it

why is the blog called The Trans Masc Voices Project?

i know the name is confusing but i'm keeping it as a legacy thing. plus, if i change it, i know exactly what will happen—some freak will snatch the url and turn it into a hate blog to harass people. i'm not giving them the chance to do that. so it stays. sorry it’s clunky but it’s for safety.

why is this called "transmasc voices project" if it features stories from people who aren't transmasc?

i get this one a lot. the name is a legacy thing and i am not changing it because i don't feel like dealing with the url-squatting drama that would follow. simple as that.

why is this about any TME voices? why include cis men or cis women?

because abuse doesn't care about your labels and victims shouldn't have to pass a purity test to be allowed to talk about what happened to them. people are being told their trauma "doesn't count" or that they're "harming the community" just by existing as a survivor of someone who holds a protected identity. if you are someone who has been told your voice doesn't matter because the person who hurt you has a specific identity, then this space is for you.

why do you post stories about [x] perpetrators?

the project isn't about checking someone's identity at the door. it’s about power. if someone is holding power over others and abusing it to silence or hurt them, those victims deserve a place to speak. i'm not going to turn away a survivor just because their abuser doesn't fit into the exact box you want them to. i am here for the victims, not to cater to your brand purity.

why isn't this happening in "supportive" spaces?

because those spaces are the exact places that taught these victims they had to stay quiet. people come here because they’ve been told their trauma isn't "real" or that talking about it is a betrayal of the community. if you think there’s a "better way" to do this, then go do it. start your own project. but until then, stop telling survivors they have nowhere to go.

yes. but please read the pinned post for guidelines. this is for personal experience only, not for "reporting" or calling people out. it’s an archive for voices that have been buried.

can i help?

if you have resources or hotlines that are actually safe and helpful for survivors who aren't getting support elsewhere, send them over. i’m trying to keep a list of those in the pinned post. other than that, just be kind to the people who are brave enough to post their stories here.

is this a psyop? are you a nazi?

no. i am not. literally get a grip. it is not a psyop to listen to people who have been silenced by their own communities. i’m not a nazi for documenting abuse. if you think acknowledging that trans people can be abusive is hate speech, then you are part of the problem. i’ve been receiving gore and death threats and suicide baiting since starting this blog.

is this just a blog for anyone who isn't a trans woman/transfem?

no. this is a blog for survivors who have been silenced. if you’ve been shut out of "supportive" spaces because your abuser is considered "above criticism" due to their identity, this is where you go. i’m not interested in gatekeeping who is or isn't "marginalized enough" to have been hurt.

why aren't submitters allowed to talk about non-transfem abusers?

if you are being abused by a cis man, there are a million and one resources, domestic violence hotlines, and mainstream support spaces available to you. if you are being abused by a cis woman, there is also plenty of infrastructure for that. the problem this archive is trying to address is the total lack of space for survivors who are told they "can't" talk about their abuse because the perpetrator is a transfem or a trans woman.

what about trans women assaulted by other trans women?

if a trans woman is being silenced or told her story doesn't matter because her abuser is also a trans woman, then she is also a victim of the exact same system of silencing that this project is trying to document. if you are looking for a space to talk about that and you feel like you aren't being heard, then your experience is relevant here too. the common thread is the silencing, not just the labels.

The transfem voices project exists to push against the societal narrative that transfem people are inherently always perpetrators in abusive situations. And in that way it is really helpful. What is your blog doing to help change societal narratives about trans people? It just isnt doing anything helpful at all especially considering you are letting cis people into this too.

These people should have space to talk about their abuse but there is no reason to have a blog like this. And you shouldnt be copying the exact format of a blog specifically designed to support transfems when all this blog does is put them down.
