You know you're a born and bred Midwesterner when you can't remember the last time you took the long way home but when your usual 4 mile commute accidentally turns to 12, it happens on a day like today in the middle of a snow storm. Each shortcut you see seems foolish and the miles quietly slip away in Spotify croons and snow's styrofoam creaking under fat tires. You do it because you've slowly been acclimating to winter's sharp teeth and after the past few days below zero, 2 degrees above feels comfortable and the bite of the cold is normalized. You do it because nothing in the world sounds like fresh snow falling to the ground both sharp and muffled to make a glittery cloak over everything. Winter cold smells and tastes different from the earthy musk of hot summer pavement when the precipitation hits the ground. I love them separately and equally but you can't get this kind of beauty and magic when the mercury is above the freezing point. (at Stone Arch Bridge)

Feels like -20? Feels like nothin! My motto has always been "there's no bad weather just bad clothing and bad attitudes." Get out there friends!

All about that full-wool life. Super pumped on my new @intergalacticsurlybikes neck gaiter and jersey (merry xmas to me from my #husbeef ahhh!). Tights by @girocycling with an @icebreaker_us base layer, @kitsbow jersey underneath my mustard layer, @sockguyluv sarape socks, and a @45nrth cap to top it off. Choppers for hand warmth and some weird/awesome boots I found at Nordstrom Rack for cheap that are waterproof to protect my appendages and made for a very comfy ride today.

Super fun race today thanks to #MNJRC and I'm so happy my race fee goes to help support future butt-kickers to be like top stepper @jennawestlake13! So stoked to stand on the podium eating cookies and drinking milk with some of my favorite ladies today. Welp, this gorgeous #foundryflyover is officially no longer on loan. As of today, Babe the Blue Fox is now my bike (thanks insurance and @foundrycycles for taking care of me!) #mcm #mudcrushermonday look at this Sweet lil Beef blasting down a flyover Friday night! I was so proud of him for giving it his all and not giving up even when his drivetrain was so full of mud it seized up. He ran his last lap with his bike shouldered and it was heeeeeavy with mud. I was pretty impressed but I mean, he is constantly impressing me so what's new 😍💪🏻 (at Jingle Cross / UCI World Cup of Cyclocross / Iowa City)

@sweeetbeeef and I just crossed the border back into Minnesota and I am looking forward to hard-petting some ketóns. Thanks to Iowa for the hospitality and @jinglecross for yet another amazing year of world class bike racing.
