week 3 blog
Social Media is becoming more and more popular every day. The more people on social media, the more opinions and voices being heard. Which is not always a good thing. The internet has allowed people to say everything and anything that comes to mind. A big trend I've noticed is an increase in hate speech and bullying. If you scroll through the comments of the post people are getting meaner and meaner. Majority of the time the post can be something innocent like a meal cooked, or a family moment. People just do not have anything nice to say lately. In the midst of the new cancel culture, there are so many unethical social media cases on the rise. Fanitta, a tik tok comedic vlogger is a great example. Fanitta was a larger woman who had surgery and since becoming skinny has also become quite mean. She takes to tiktok to single out and bash other vloggers. She even recently posted a youtube video where she is clearly trying to coerce and take advantage of a guy while on a date. Another popular case is within the Miss Teen USA circuit. Gabriella Vigorito took to social media to express her disdain for not winning Miss Teen CT. users were blown away by how inappropriate that was saying things like āLooks like they made the right choiceā and āYou deserve less than 11th placeā.
A brand that uses proper social media ethics I believe is Campbell soup. They are inclusive and unapologetic about it. Campbell is professional in their responses to bullying and keep everything appropriate.Ā
I feel the main concept necessary to adhere to my personal conduct online is the following:
1. No bullying
2. No racist comments
3. Cursing
4. Gender bias
5. Spreading false information about people
It is very important that people that use social media adhere to the following guidelines to be protected.

4. Visiting sites that advertise various retail websites that do not existĀ
Core Concepts as a social media professionalĀ
