He doesn't consider himself impulsive in the same sense that his brother is, but when Roxas wakes up to twenty different variations of pollen induced sneezes, he's a little more inclined to act irrationally. (Paralia lacks the same sense of comfort a bustling city and cramped apartment have to offer-- and more than that, it lacks the lingering presence of familiarity; a mirror staring back or a frequent shade of red.) It's in-between the fuzziness of sleep and the time it takes to shake the rest of him awake that he considers the important things, like who's going to take the blame for this when they get home (Ven, presumably) and if he has enough money for train fare.
It's only after that another question hooks onto the corners of his mind: how?
He takes to standing on shaky legs, absently rubbing at his head as he crosses intersections without looking both ways and various other things that he'd be reprimanded for if a parental figure (Ven) were around, but they're not (and that's what aches the most, he figures). The most unsettling thing may be that he has no idea where he's headed and potentially no means of getting back to Kairos-- and instead of slipping into his usual bravado, he's abandoned it in favor of wide eyes and a foundation that cracks with each bump of the shoulder.
But, reassurance comes packaged along with a familiar face and red coloring the edges of his peripherals
It takes one, two, three steps and enough apologies thrown over his shoulder to catch up to the receding form, but he manages to grab the corner of his elbow, out of breath and over the moon.
"Hey..! You're here, too!"
(Smile brimming and spilling over, he's always had a tendency to drown in Axel's presence, except-- fingers curl tighter around the fabric of his t-shirt and features fall as quickly as the rose, smile ebbing as he falls apart at the seams.)
It's me! You know.. Axel.
Talk about blank with a capital B. Man, oh man, even the Dusks aren't gonna crack this one.
Look at what it's come to. I've been given these icky orders to destroy you if you refuse to come back with me.
It takes what feels like a lifetime to snap out of his reverie, echoes still clinging to the back of his mind and memories of a past life bitter on his tongue. He blinks up at the man in front of him with glassy eyes and a loss of words that he finds stuck between the ribs of his throat.
