Everyone loved Y/n Henderson. She was one of those girls where if you hated her, you were practically a monster because she could do nothing wrong. Whether it was her cheerful, upbeat attitude that drew everyone to her or her preppy cheerleader status, everyone saw her as something they wanted to be.
Y/n Henderson had her future planned out. She was one of the few to try to leave Hawkins and be accepted into a school outside. Unlike Carol, the old captain, she wasn't a total bitch which made the cheer team even more popular with everyone loving Team Captain Henderson.
And her looks drew people in. She was always mentioned in those smash or pass games. Girls would even ask her about makeup advice. She didn't bother to hide her routine. A little bit of concealer in places. Add in some blush, and put that color on your lip. Next, curl your lashes and add a bit of mascara but not enough to it clumpy. Then to finish it off, add on some shimmery pink lip gloss. And always, always remember to wear a little bit of pink because pink is a beautiful color.
There was one thing that confused everyone, which was her boyfriend, Eddie the Freak Munson. No one understood how he managed to get with her. Considering that he was at the bottom of the pyramid and she was on the very tip of it. Students were convinced he conducted a ritualistic sacrifice to get his 'dream girl'Â
Although Y/n had many potential love interests, there was one thing Eddie was able to do that none of the others could. He could make her laugh. Not a light giggle or anything but a full-blown laugh. One where she's clutching onto her stomach and desperately gasping for air until she can only silently laugh because it's too much.
To Y/n, Eddie was the perfect guy to her. Seeing as no one really tried to learn about her and instead based everything on what they heard, she never felt known. Eddie made that feeling fade away.
The day she met Eddie was a day she would never forget. It was the day after a giant football game. The cheer team had finished their routine, resulting in the crowd bursting out in loud roars. A successful day like usual. The football team along with the cheer team wanted to go out for dinner. And although they pushed the teen to go along, she politely refused.
Y/n didn't live too far away, maybe 30 minutes by walking. As usual, she put on her headphones and happily hummed along to her favorite song at the moment, Crazy Train by Ozzy Osbourne. Something about it pumped her and made her feel like doing something deviant or dangerous.
The day her little brother walked into her listening to it while she was in a ruffling light pink nightgown along with fluffy pink slippers, his mind was slightly blown. Dustin stayed up the rest of the night trying to understand how his sister could dress so girly while still liking metal...
Unbeknownst to the teen, a particular male's ears perked up as the girl he least expected to be listening to that type of music strolled by. He couldn't help but feel his heart flutter as she softly sang along with a smile. Without a thought, Eddie raced up to her and tapped her shoulder.
Y/n turned around and flashed a toothy smile before pulling her headphones off, "oh hey! Is something wrong, Eddie?" She gave a confused little grin, her eyebrows slightly furrowed.
He shook his head and cleared his throat somewhat embarrassed, clueless about what he should say. "you know my name?" He squeaked out while sheepishly scratching the back of his kneck and leaning back.
The female hummed, "Yeah. Eddie Munson, the leader of the Hellfire Club. I would have to be pretty airheaded to not know who you are." She softly chuckled and began hugging her body. "Look, it would be cool to talk, but I have to get home soon. It's already dark, and I have to walk. So I really don't want--"
"I can drive you home!" He exclaimed.
Her tongue gently swiped over her bottom lip, "Really? Because it would be super cool if you could. I'm not a big fan of the dark, so..."
"yeah," Eddie casually smiled.
When they got into the car, Eddie had expected the atmosphere to be filled with total awkwardness, but it was only coming from him. There was nothing about Y/n's body language that said she was uncomfortable.
"So, Crazy Train, huh?" He said while gently turning the wheel.
"Yeah! One of my favorite songs, but I'm not sure how much longer I'll love it because I usually play them until I'm completely over the song." She turned to face Eddie. "You know?"
He nodded his head, "Yeah, totally understand. Just thought you might be into Madonna or some shit like that." He scoffed.
Y/n cocked to her side, "Well, I never said I didn't like her music. I don't think she's bad if that's what you're alluding to." She tugged a piece of hair behind her ear and struggled. "I like branching out and stuff. Just because something seems true about a person doesn't mean it is..." She trailed off when looking out to the window.
Eddie scrunched up his face, "Didn't mean it in a bad way, Henderson. You're just full of surprises." He sighed while pulling into her driveway.
Y/n's hand rested on the door hinge, but instead of leaving, she turned back to Eddie.
"Thanks for the ride. I really do appreciate it."
"Yeah, no problem." He smiled softly.
The teen let out a soft chuckle and silently prayed he wouldn't be able to see her face beginning to flush.
Eddie stares at her in confusion, "Not to be rude, but are you going to get off?"
"yeah!" Y/n awkwardly smiled before finally opening the door. "I really like your vibe, Munson." She reached into the pocket of her cheer uniform and pulled a pen from her jacket pocket. "Call me? I mean, only if you want to hang out or if you ever just want to talk." Y/n stuck her hands in her pocket.
The curly-haired male nodded his head with wide eyes as he took the paper. In what universe would Eddie Munson ever get the number of the most popular girl at school?
That day was the start of the beginning for the two of them. Y/n quickly found herself falling for him, and although it took him a little longer to understand his feelings, he fell harder.
Y/n never cared about what everyone said to her about him. After all, she knew the real Eddie, not the one based on lies and rumors.
All of that led them to this week. A week meant to be fun but one that turned into a living hell. Y/n knew about the upside down, of course she did. Dustin couldn't keep his mouth shut, so she knew about everything like Eleven. That was also because her brother and his friends required someone to help them look for Will. So, she had been a part of everything since the beginning.
It was the morning of the basketball championship. Behind her happy demeanor, Y/n felt off. Her head was constantly pounding making itÂ
to do even the most simple tasks. Along with that, she had grown accustomed to both frequent nose bleeds and of course, the nightmares. They were the worst. Somehow, things would start off good and then quickly take a turn for the worst. Strangely enough, they always included her dad.
Everyone found it hard to believe that Y/n and Dustin were related. What most people didn't know was there was an actual reason for that. The two had different dads. Unlike Dustin's father who walked out after hearing about the pregnancy, Y/n's stayed longer than he should have.
He wasn't a good dad. He was far from that. He was a monster who was capable of disguising himself. Y/n refused to believe it at first. He always apologized for hitting her but continued doing it anyway. Y/n excused it, thinking that maybe, just maybe he would change. He only got worse. Locking her in her room, refusing to feed her, hitting her. Her least favorite part was being stripped down to the bare minimum and having her wait outside for her mother.Â
He loved power. He loved having control, and if he couldn't have authority over his ex-wife, he would have it over her daughter.
In her nightmares, Y/n would relive those horrid memories she had convinced herself she had buried deep down. The teen would wake up in a cold sweat, tears falling down her face, and to her loud uneven breathing. She refused to tell anybody though. Why should they worry?
Everything was going well, besides the headache. Y/n spent time with Eddie, laughed with her friends, and cheered as Lucas made the winning basket. After the game, she excused herself to use the restroom. As usual, she grabbed a bottle of pills and took more than she could count. Y/n wanted the pain to be gone. If one wasn't doing the trick, would it be so bad taking more?
Something was different when she walked out of the bathroom. Her body froze at the hidden figure peaking at her from the corner of a wall.
"Hello?" She croaked out while taking a few steps forward. Her head snapped back as the loud chime of a grandfather clock echoed in her head.
"babygirl..."
Y/n stood frozen in place. Her mouth hung slightly ajar as she let out panicked breaths. She tightly clenched her fist and looked down at the ground.
A hand rested on her shoulder and gently squeezed, "It's okay, Daddy's here now. No need to be scared." He hummed into her ear
She swallowed, "Go away, Dad." The teen tightly closed her eyes and allowed a shaky cry to leave her lips.
The male in the back of her let out an agitated groan. "You're really going to through a fit? God, why don't you just fucking grow up and stop living in that fantasy you have, Y/n." He slurred and tighter his grip on her causing her to wince.
"You're hurting me!" She cried out while clawing at his arm.
"it's not my fault you decide to act like a little shit. You chose to be this way and wonder why you always have to be punished for your shitty-ass behavior."
Y/n squirmed around and tried to shake him off, but her legs couldn't move. Tears fell from her eyes as she desperately called for help to anyone who would listen.
"You think they'd really come to save a slut like you? If anything, they would want to have their way with you."
"Let go of me!" Y/n sobbed while throwing her head back, trying to get him to let go. He didn't budge but instead, let out a deep cry.
"I'm sorry..." He mumbled and wrapped his arms around the teen. "I don't mean to act like this with you, Darling."
Y/n continued to squirm around until she finally broke loose of his grasp. She ran to go knows where but made sure she was far away from him. All she knew was she needed to get away.Â
"Y/n!" A voice angrily hollered out from behind her.
Her head snapped back, and a faint sigh left her lips.
"I've been waiting here for - Oh shit, what happened?" Dustin ran to his crying sister and held her close.
She stood there frozen in place, not knowing what to tell him. This was all in her head, and she didn't want her little brother to know how shitty her dad was. It would be embarrassing.
"oh, just spooked myself, I guess!" She let out a soft, obviously forced chuckle and motioned for her brother to get into the car. He didn't buy it. He wished his sister realized he wasn't stupid enough to. Yet, he didn't push. He knew something was off but didn't want to force her to tell him. It would come naturally soon enough.
Y/n laid on her bed with a stoic expression resting on her face. Her fingers played with the white ruffly hem of her light pink nightgown. She couldn't shake the feeling of being watched and especially couldn't shake off the thoughts racing through her head.
The phone ringing brought her out of her trance.
"This is Y/n speaking."
"Hey Princess"
"Eddie?"
The male on the other side let out a shaky breath, "I'm going to need you to meet up with me."
