(I promise this one will be much shorter, also, spoilers for season two, chapter 33)

I swore to myself that I wouldn’t try to guess Buddy’s human name. I figure it will be revealed at the end of season two. But the voices in my head won’t stop yapping!

They said some things, and now I’ll haunt y’all with them, if you choose to read further.

With that out of the way, you have been warned. I feel pretty confident in this one, I’ll bet five beans.

The Guessing Game:

Everyones been guessing his name for years. Until S2, Ch33, we didn’t really have any criteria for it. There was some speculated criteria, however:

It could have something to do with Snow White.

The name could start with the letter B, because of the title, Cinderella Boy. Since Chase’s name starts with a C, then Buddy’s must start with B.

Idk if I remember correctly, but I feel like I’ve seen some speculation that his name could start with a C because of the name being similar to Cinderella. Like Chase.

And that’s all I can think of. But we now have real criteria.

It has been confirmed by Punko in the comments of chapter 33 that his name is NOT Bartholomew.

Now, *cracks knuckles* the starting letter, B, I feel, is a bit too close to Buddy. He already has a nickname that starts with a B. So, I don’t think his name will begin with a B. It’s gotta be something else. The other criteria, however, I think we can work with. Including the Snow White and Cinderella parallels. So, let’s go over the criteria that I’ll be using:

Something related to Cinderella and Snow White, like Chase.

What do I mean by that? Well, names have meaning. Chase’s name, stage name or otherwise, must mean something. I got inspired to look into Chase’s name by a post from @alexx-star.

I looked into it further, and I found some juicy bits. To summaries, Charlie is derived from Charles. The name means King, Army, and Man. That’s his first name, his second name is Everett. It means strong as a boar, wild, and brave. His last name is Hollow, which means hollowed spot/shelter.

But that’s not alllllllll~ guess what I found about Chase’s stage naaame~ it was a nickname for a Huntsman.

What character helps Snow White escape from The Evil Queen? The Huntsman! By their names alone the boi’s are connected! Chase is simultaneously The Huntsman, The Prince, and The Angel in Buddy’s story. Here’s another post that goes over what I’m talking about:

What I’m getting at is that Chase’s name is rooted with Buddy’s. So that must mean the same for our favorite Victorian Orphan turned Mall Goth.

So let’s go over Buddy’s whole deal. Buddy means friend and partner. Not too crazy. Nox means Night, and since he’s one of twelve Keys that are needed to grant wishes, the connections to Cinderella are obvious. And since Chase is Cinderella in a sense, that means that Buddy will help Chase get his wish.

But let’s go back to Chase’s first name, Charlie. It means King. If Chase is theoretically the prince turned king in Buddy’s side of the narrative, then the same must be true. The only thing missing from Buddy’s name line up is the ending. Buddy’s name must be related to royalty.

I was at work, thinking, until a named popped in my head. It wouldn’t leave, it was just screaming at me, over and over and over, screaming at me to look at it. “Why do I know this name? Where did I— okay, let’s go back. Punko didn’t want us to guess Nox as Buddy’s name in season one. That was a plot twist. There weren’t any tells for that name, other then his clothes—,”

The night and darkness imagery, it was all there. His clothing was telling us his name before it was given. But it was still ment to be kept as a surprise. But what if his human name was hidden the same way? By the new criteria set up from S2 Ch33, I think we’re supposed to look back and find the clues. Because unlike last time, it can be solve it.

So, I looked Back at all of Buddy’s Wardrobe that I could Gather.

Do you spot it? A little, odd that out of all his fits, the only one where his hair changed color was in the Narnia Parody.

His outfit is also mostly white, taboot.

I’m completely normal about this.

This little discovery led me down a rabbit hole because my coworkers reference Narnia all the time, specifically Edmund’s love for Turkish Delights. Buddy is very similar to Ed in the since that he will stuff his face with sweets, was lured into a dangerous place with a promise of wealth/freedom, and betrayed everyone before returning back to good. He is friends with a evil queen, a bit snarky, and some secret third thing— I can’t remember, I haven’t watched the movie in years.

Edmund looked like the right name, but that wasn’t the name that came to mind. No, it was someone else’s. I knew they were in the movies and books, but I couldn’t recall who. I actually thought the name I originally remembered was Edmund’s, but nope! To confirm my suspicions, I looked up the name.

Edmund means protection, wealth, and fortune. This name didn’t fit the criteria all the way. Yes it’s old and classy, but it doesn’t fit with Buddy as a character or his arc with Chase.

So, I looked away from Edmund and looked at the character Buddy was playing as. The White Witch, Jadis. Jadis means, “Long ago.” Yes, he’s from a time period long since past, but that isn’t new information. It’s old and classy, but it doesn’t fit the rest of the list. Also, it’s a bit too on the nose. Jadis playing as Jadis would be funny, but we’re not looking for laughs here.

Let’s go back to the character Buddy is constantly pared with, Snow White. Due to Buddy’s hair being changed, along with him telling us to look at him— Narnia could be the key to his name. So, what name in Narnia is at all similar to Snow White and related to Royalty?

White, his hair is white, his clothes are mostly white, it has to be something related to white.

And so I looked it up, the name in my head was a character who is very well known in the series, whose main goal is to return to his rightful place on the throne, Caspian. What does Caspian mean? White.

It’s also known as the world’s largest body of water at the junction of Europe and Asia, The Caspian Sea.

*Throws up* T-that could also mean that the Beach Boys Arc was some subtle bit of foreshadowing. They’re surrounded by ocean, we learn more about Buddy, Chase and Buddy grow closer together, and his eyes ARE A F0€$ WHITISH BLUE!!!!! *Coughs* A-and in Little Shadows, an arc entirely in water, we get Buddy’s full backstory.

*Inhales*

Caspian Fits in all The Boxes.

It’s related to Snow White by the name meaning White, and Cinderella because it starts with a letter C, like Chase! Also, it’s a name heavily linked to a prince, who later becomes a king.
