If the rejection is traumatic enough or the death was traumatic it could trigger something dangerous within the coding depending on how the character is set up. If they can't handle rejection or death in general they go insane. Felix will die of a broken heart (code) by fading away as in becoming a glitch or go insane and die
Ralph. Hero's Duty Felix told me that broken hearts are broken codes, if the character was not already to programmed to have one. If Calhoun died or left Felix, the code for his emotion will break. This will cause him to become a glitch. The reason for the breaking of the code is if two characters fall in love, it has something to do with their code and programming. That love, bonds the codes into a new one within each character. If one so happens to pass, that code will rupture and slowly, so

Amnesia Prompt
Turbo yelped and scrambled back as Ralph's fists slammed into the ground on either side of him. The force of the impact was enough to raise mounds of fudge and hard candy.
"Ralph, please!" screamed Turbo. "Please, why are you doing this?! Don't you remember me?!"
"Of course I remember you!" thundered Ralph, raising his massive hands once again. "You're the no-good son of a glitch who took over this game and tormented Vanellope for fifteen years -- not to mention putting two game cabinets out of order!"
"No! No, that wasn't...!" But Turbo gulped down his protests fearfully. He couldn't say that it wasn't him who had done those things; that would be a complete lie. But he hadn't been himself, and Ralph knew that...didn't he?! He knew about the malware, about King Candy, about what had happened after --
Ralph's fists whammed into the ground again, closer to Turbo this time. The boy cried out, sent stumbling from the vibrations.
