Gettin' Crafty!

It's up and running but I still have a few kinks here and there to work out, but I'm definitely way more excited about the layout and categorization of the website :)

I made this super cute grocery shopping bag from Missglamorazzi's Youtube Video tutorial found here. All in all, it took about 15 minutes and the tutorial was super straight forward. Between the cost of the duct tape, fabric, and belting strips the bag cost about $10 in total. I can't wait to make more of these!

This was part of my best friend's 21st birthday present. Just buy a flask, line it with paper of your choice (I got this one from Joann's), coat it with a waterproof sealant, and embellish (I got these letters from Michaels)

Eventually I'll add a category (or actually make a categorized website) for thrift store alterations, as these aren't really a diy that anyone can do seeing as it's hard to find the same items. Anywoo, found this wooden bin for $6 and painted it with rustoleum satin white to make it a little shabby chic :)

All you have to do is buy the iphone cases that have a colored side and clear back (the back of mine are matte), and insert the image of your liking into an editable iphone case template (a friend sent me one, but I'm sure you can find it online with a quick google search), then print, and cut! I highly recommend printing on photo paper.

If you're interested in how to make it, you just pull each flower off of the stem and glue it into a wiffle ball. You could also stick the flowers (attached to shorter stems) into a styrofoam ball. Then attach ribbon (I just pulled my through one of the wiffle ball holes) to hang.

Lace Shorts! Quite a feat based on the fact that this was one of my first experiences with a sewing machine.

The glue was visible (because the shells have so little surface area), so I sprinkled some sand over the glue. Warning! - If you want to fill your shadow box with sand, be sure to line the box with something (such as hot glue) so that it doesn't leak sand out everywhere.

I found this frame, in perfect condition, by the trash at my work (the corporate companies are always throwing away brand new stuff). So my boyfriend and I chose this photo of ourselves, measured/cropped it to size, and got it printed (an 'engineering print' at Staples for $3 or so), and pasted it on the back of the original photo (to avoid having to buy a massive amount of card stock or styrofoam to adhere it to).

I just finished up a seashell-sandbox craft, made lace-y shorts, made a new perfume stand, and more. Expect to see photos soon :)

On the plus side, the pink I used came out so bright! I had previously tried to do a turquoise and teal strip, and once it dried it turned a blue-gray D:

Mason Jar Soap Dispenser. I've been using a plastic softsoap soap container for ages now, and absolutely hate it. But I've never been able to find a soap container that I l ike enough to be willing to pay $15+ for. So I made my own :) Upcycled a mason jar, spray painted the lid and soap pump with rostoleum universal metallic paint (My favorite paint). And then filled it with pink dawn soap.

To try this at home: Mix water and food dye in a cup/container/whatever works for you, then pour into the slots of an ice cube tray. Do this for each color. (I recommend doing this rather than just pouring water and a drop into each spot, so as to save food dye). Let it sit in the freezer for a bit, and once it's a slush put in some kabob sticks or toothpicks. Let freeze. Then take out and paint away!

Found a beautiful button and knew it had to be made into a ring. Sanded the ring base and attached with super glue this time...not about to loose this one down the sink!

Made my first wreath - for under $5! Wreath, fake flowers, burlap (didn't end up using the burlap), and lace from Joanns.

Far from perfect, but MUCH better. I think I'll try taking some steel wool soaked in soda (vs a sponge soaked in soda) to it and see if that helps.
