high hopes

“It is. Lowkey wishing I’d lied a little on my test though,” Elijah shrugged while laughing softy, moving in and taking another drink of his milkshake, just longer this time. “I did, yeah,” He responded after finishing it, contemplating getting another in the meantime. “The beach is kind of like a happy place for me, in a way? It keeps me straight. There is though, I’m noticing. Were you on that Mexico trip everyone was buzzing about?”

“To get a different mark? Dude, it’s not a very special lane up in here,” she said. Georgie still needed to figure out a title, something she hoped class would help her with. Or maybe a very throughout google search in the next couple of days. “That’s cool. That it does it for you. I guess we all need our stuff to keep from going too... out there. I was, yeah. It was pretty awesome. We got to go to a bunch of cool places. Six Flags, some awesome museums and even the beach included. My favorite part was the food though. Can’t beat that.” 

Elijah smiled over at Georgie and nodded as he leaned in to take a sip from his own milkshake. “Yeah, I have,” He commented after finishing with the sip from his drink. “Having my brother here with me has just made everything a lot better. And of course, having a beach I can go sit on is nice. My friends being here too. What’s been your favorite part of the school so far?”

“That’s cool, having family here sure is nice,” she commented, having told Elijah about her own siblings the day before. “You’re a big fan of the beach? I think you also mentioned it on your intro post on the forum, right?” Georgie leaned back on the chair, bringing her milkshake with her as she thought of an answer. “I really like how big it is. And the amount of stuff there is to see and do in down. And there’s always seem to be something going on, which I’m always down for.”  

“This milkshake is the best thing that’s happened to me all week. And that’s saying a lot, because a lot of really fucking great things have happened.”

“Right?! Heaven sent, I’m telling you...” Georgie laughed softly, sipping from her own chocolate, strawberry and hazelnut shake. “You should try this one next time, it is fucking good,” she added. “You’ve been enjoying your first week here then? Mine was pretty nice too.” 

Unless you drank ungodly amounts of white monster, probably. Though those do taste a hell of a lot better than the original ones, so might be worth it. That’s really cool though. Is it something you had to go to college for? Or are you self taught? I’ll check the milkshake place out. I saw the owners opened up a candy store too, which is pretty fucking nice. Just need to find someone to go with and I’m as good as gold.

That could be arranged. The white monster happens to be their best invention ever - even though I’m kind of a big fan of the orange one. Yes and no. I did go to college to get deeper into English, and picked up some classes for the other languages. But mostly, you know, internet and stuff. It gets easier after the third one. They did? Damn, that’s awesome. You know, I’m free tomorrow if you’re down. I do start a new job on Thursday so it’s a tomorrow only offer - or next week.

Sloan gave a celebratory wave of their hand in the air. “French, cool. Maybe I should start learning now.” They knew the simple shit, hello and thank you, things that could be picked up from movies. By the time winter rolled around Sloan was hoping to be settled into their schedule and moving a little smoother. Maybe it could be a trip they could handle or at least not be terrified to go on. Besides they’d have all their siblings to back them up. “You wanna teach me a few phrases some time? You know, so I can seduce women.”

Georgie nodded at first, and then let themself smile. “I can teach you some stuff for sure... And I’ll make sure to teach you real stuff, not the Il fait chaude au Florida kind of stuff,” they added, being reminded of all the weather talk they ended up doing at their language classes. Georgie was always happy to share the languages they knew with all of their siblings. Or even learn a bit from them. Helping AV with Spanish had been great, and they were sure that helping Sloan with French could be too. “And you never know where else you might use it. I just learned it recently that it’s one of Morocco’s official languages.” Another laugh and a shrug. “You’ll be able to flirt everyone in no time.” 

Monster would absolutely do it. But just the green ones though, because that’s an energy and a sugar boost. Perfect combination for long drives like that. That’s a whole lot of languages though. Which is your favorite, you think? Or does it change depending on the day? Ice cream is for sure saving lives down here, it’s hot and humid as hell.

Yeaaah, makes sense. I’d end up failing with my white ones I guess. They definitely lack the sugar boost. Yeah, it’s kinda my thing. I want to pick up some more complicated stuff when I have the time too. I really like Spanish - there’s so much rhythm to it. But it does change depending on the day, or the task. For sure. There’s a milkshake place in town that I always make sure to stop by whenever I’m down there. 

It all sounded like an amazing time, and they were glad their siblings had taken the trip. They didn’t feel badly that they hadn’t obviously it had been their choice and they knew just from how their week had gone in a stable environment how good that choice was but they were a little bit jealous about all the food. Just a little bit. “Cool.” Sloan affirmed, grinning at Georgie’s excitement over it all. “Bet you were showing off your Spanish the whole time huh?”

“You know what they say, right?” Georgie started, making a snob face for a second before laughing. “If you got it, flaunt it... Or something like that. But yeah, I made sure to use it. Talk to some locals and get some practice,” languages had become their favorite thing with time after all. And being able to share knowledge wherever they went was on the Top3 of their list. They leaned back on the chair. “I heard the school is doing France during the winter. So yay French.” 

Probably, but also probably not if you consider energizing on an ass ton of espresso. Probably not healthy, but that’s the price people pay for convenience. I did, yeah. The Grand Canyon was probably my favorite though. Makes sense. Frequency of earthquakes too, one would think. What languages can you speak? It is. And ice cream. Damn, looks like I’m ordering dinner in tonight.

Now, that’s gonna have you awake for a whole ass time. If we’re going with not healthy, a few Monster cans might do the trick too. Who knows what the consequences might be. Cool! That’s a good one. Yep, exactly. Something to do with that too. English, obviously, but also Spanish, Italian, French and Portuguese. And some Turkish that I picked up from my sister. And sign, of course. Ice cream! Saving out butts this summer. Damn, looks like you’re about to have a good one. 

It is a lot. It would’ve only been about 37 hours if I hadn’t stopped to take so many pictures, and hotel breaks. That is weird actually, I wonder why that is. My first thought was positioning of the moon, but it makes full rotations around the earth every day, so that doesn’t actually make sense. Nice to meet you, Georgie. Are you the type to care about the titles? I’ll keep that in mind. Somedays a whole pizza is extremely hard to pass up.

But 37 hours nonstop is a bit dangerous, no? It’s not like I drive, but there’s this whole rule about sleeping at some point I think. So you’ve been to some cool places on your way here? It has something to do with tectonic plates and the fact that there’s less of those on the Atlantic side. That’s what I read. But I’m a linguist, not someone that actually knows oceans. I am, but I’m actually trying to figure something out right now so let’s say I’m not. I’ll get back to you on that one. Elijah, you are so right. Life is meaningless without pizza. 

As fun as the last week of driving was, I’m so ready to get in bed and sleep through the weekend. What’s up, Devereux? I’m Elijah, a new submissive from California, and I’m insanely excited to compare the quality of the beaches. I’ve heard West Coast beaches are superior, but I’m dying to see for myself. Where’s the best places on the island to go have some fun?

Wow. A whole week of driving is a whole freaking lot. Did you stop to take pictures and stuff? I don’t know much about the beaches, but I do know that the Atlantic ocean tends to be warmer and calmer than the Pacific... Which is weird, when you think about their names. But yeah, the beaches here might win. I’m also new around here, but I’m a Switch. And my name is Georgie. I’ve been to The Flag, great bar. And the Italian restaurant has awesome pizza. 

Sloan flopped back onto Georgie’s bed, Black Sheep playing for the third time since they’d gotten there in the background. The suitcases from the trip looked mostly unpacked and Sloan had helped some… they’d at least lent an ear to their sibling’s never ending flow of facts while they were unpacking. Even if Sloan didn’t technically do much else to help without a specific instruction on Georgie’s part. “But you had fun though right? On the trip?” @georgiebertryan​

Most of the time, Georgie was happy to just hangout. But they had to unpack and the fact that Sloan was there made the whole thing go by easier. It took them less than they had expected, and they only noticed how long it had been once they stopped to listen to the songs they had going on. Pretty much shoving the last piece of clothing into a drawer, Georgie sat down on their desk chair. “Oh, yeah...” A pause to all of the random facts they had been babbling about the entire time. “It was great. The food was awesome... I wish they’d just teach us how to make those tacos. And we got to go to come pretty awesome places. There was even a cave! And some other awesome stuff.”
