Ramen and beyond! Choji and Ayame

The morning was frantic, Ayame had her hair up in a high bun and her arms moved at a hundred miles an hour trying to arrange the sample platters, the sauce wasn’t right, so she’d start again. The broth had foamed up, so she spooned it out. She let out a strangled scream, the nerves of making new dishes always heighten her impulses to be brash and snappy.

She left the rest of the kitchen antics to Teuchi whilst she opened up the shop for service, slamming open the shutters with clumsy force. From the side of her eye she noticed an on coming figure, and her tension fluttered away slightly, “Choji!” She cheered, waving with an excited jump, “We’re almost ready!”

Choji woke to a stream of sunlight and smiled looking through the window, not quite remembering the last time that had happened. Looking at the clock he lay back and enjoyed the comfort and warmth of his bed. Later he got up and stretched. The large Akimichi got ready for the day and made his way towards the Ramen stand, almost skipping with joy.

He arrived at the restaurant just in time to see Ayame open up. "Hi Ayame, how are you this morning?" Choji went straight up to the bar and sat down, "I have to say it all smells delicious Ayame, and if it tastes that good I mightnt be able to leave here today." He leaned forward on the bar smiling, "So what is on the menu this brunchtime?"

“No, no I insist Please go first” Choji smiled feeling embarrassed, At they same time Luke and Anna-mun were swinging, “Would you like a push?” he asked”

“Okay then~” Anna laughed, happily going down the slide first. Anna-Mun on the other hand sat on the swing, “Yes please.” she smiled, looking back at Luke.

Choji smiled and quickly chased up the ladder and slide down Shouting "weeeee" Luke giggled and ran behind Anna-mun's swing and began to push

Temari half smirked at the boys quick change of heart, holding back a small giggle as she teased him. “Hmm good, I should think so.” She rolled her eyes as Choji replied to her heaven comment, eventually breaking into another grin. “Hmm, too right. Man, they’ve got this recipe down!” She continued eating her stack, slowly making her way through it, pausing occasionally to psych herself up for completing it. “Oh hell no.” she stated, pulling her plate close to her in a playful defensive maneuver. “I’ll be able to finish mine just fine!” she declared, sticking her tongue out at the Akamichi.

The blonde, let out an exasperated sigh at his teasing question, reluctant to admit he was right and determined to hide any embarassment regarding the subject, “Yes.. I mean no. I mean, I’ve been a few times?” she answered quickly, unsure how she came to that conclusion. “Yes” she conceeded, shaking her head “I needed some new stuff so Shikamaru has been shopping with me a few times… I don’t think he likes shopping.”

"Mhh they really do" the Akimichi replied taking a rest from eating for a minute, tossing his head to the ceiling and laughing deeply as she got defensive. "Race?" He asked with a grin and sticking his tongue back at the blonde and tucked in without waiting for an answer. He sat forward in his seat getting himself as close as possible to the food. He made short work of the food and looked up in triumph only to see he had been bested. Choji slumped back in the chair "you weren't kidding."

Choji was content, a full belly and watching a his friend trip over her very word embarrassed made him chuckle, "No.. I don't think he does, but then again there isn't much that takes effort he does like, but still he went with you" Choji grinned raising his eyebrows. He stretched his back out "how about we get out of here, we cant spend our whole day in restaurants"

She stood and grabbed a purple ball before taking her own shot at the pins. She managed to hit the center pin, taking out all of the middle ones, leaving the pins on either side. Sighing she grabbed her ball and tried again, this time taking out the pins on the right side. Turning back to Choji, “I’ll get it next time! Just you wait!”

Leaning his head the the side he grinned "amaze me" and watched her throw, "Ughhh, those are the most frustrating" He groaned empathising with her, "We will see" He rose from his seat and took his shots almost replicating his first attempt but only hitting 9 this time. "Ok, Ino, your up dazzle me"

Temari smiled as Choji spoke of Team 10’s adventures and precious mission, the boy was reiterating what she alrady knew about Shikamaru. If anything, it caused her to feel even greater awe and respect for him. Shaking her head slightly to disimiss such thoughts, she coughed to clear her throat before continuing, “”Oh shush you.” She muttered, mustering a mock glare at the boy in front of her.

The blonde took a few bites of her pancake and stifled a moan of satisfaction, they were amazing “Oh my god.. have I just entered heaven?” she whispered, taking another small bite “But you’re right, I think I’m going to struggle with this stack.” Looking back up at Choji she paused in thought. “Hmm.. well we’ll just have to go shopping and get you some suitable items. They shouldn’t be too hard to find.” she stated, grinning at the boy before taking a sip of her drink.

"Hmmm, I dunno Whats my silence worth to you?" Choji teased before seeing her stare and changing his mind "Ok Ill say no more about it" The Akimichi fought hard to keep from attacking his pile as he watched Temari take her first bite He burst out laughing at her reaction, "Not quite entered heaven but more like the angle has descended and got jobs here." Choji then started to eat, slowly savoring the taste, he took a break to joke again "Well Temari-chan if you cant finish, I know someone who would be more than happy to take them off your hands"

Choji finished his pancakes laying his fork on the plate and sat back to digest. "Hmm it sounds like you are quite familiar with the shopping sector of konoha eh Temari? Did a few of those Diplomatic trips with Shika turn into shopping trips?" Choji said with a smirk.

Choji nodded and laughed at her antics, and leaned in close to whisper “So what would it take for me to be allowed into the secret ingredient circle?” He tried to keep a straight face despite wanting to burst into laughter. He finished his second bowl of ramen and sat back in his seat to pat his belly, “That hit the spot, Ayame, thanks million, but I’m pooped I think an early night is needed but I have a day off tomorrow, Should I come for breakfast or lunch or both?” Choji said with a giggle.

She narrowed her eyes, soaking in the question for a bit until she broke out into a bigger smile, she looked like the biggest epiphany had struck her but the words that followed were humbled in comparison, “Let’s do brunch then, ey? Best of both worlds!” She reasoned with a cute shrug, taking the empty bowels away from him, “You never know. We might be testing a new barbecue dish tomorrow… and we might need some guinea pigs for it.” She wiggled her eyebrows a little, and ended up feeling so silly mid-motion, that she clapped her hands over her face and smirked at herself.

Choji grinned, "I knew I could count on you, Brunch is Perfect I can even get a lie in, I cant remember the last time I had one. Thanks Ayame!" He had just got up to leave when he heard a familiar and welcome world. Turning around a smile grew across Choji's face "Bar.be.cue... you need guinea pigs..." He rushed to the bar and grabbed Ayame's hands in his, I'll be there tomorrow, thank you thank you thank you" With that Choji flashed her a quick smile and skipped out of the bar to rush home. Later as he got into bed he set his alarm and fell asleep dreaming of Ramen, BArbecuen and a certain brunette waitress.

To say she respected Choji’s opinion was an understatement, Ayame regarded him as their own personal food critic, and her dad had even adjusted the noodles to make sure they were up to scratch, because as complimentary as he’d always been, he had always been honestly critical.

She smiled and let out a timid, “Thank you.” Before laughing along with his request, “If I told you I’d have to kill you.” She threw a mocking punch in the air and snickered, “But maybe, just maybe we can let you in on the special ingredients one day.”
