Okay so, I just looked it up.... Turns out there IS, in fact, a word for "I like Guys/Girls". It's Androromantic and Gyneromantic.

my take on labor rights is the same as it always has been - that everything good in society is created as a result of a huge amount of menial, unprestigious, absolutely necessary labor - that every janitor and service worker and delivery truck driver and sanitation worker and agricultural laborer and construction worker is keeping this giant system we call civilization running

i don't really see a near future where this is no longer the case - we'll automate some things, but not everything. as a result, improving the relative position of the middle class is not really my end goal - as long as there will be people working unpleasant and utterly essential jobs, those people need better pay and benefits

y'know, folks in retail and food places generally get the short end of the stick, both from their employers, And their customers!

Nobody wants to work these jobs because society always tells us it's a dead end job. So the people that work there are rarely inspired to be great at their jobs.

Why should I care about being exceptional? All I ever get is, "Hey Loser! Where's my damn order!"

The amount of mental fortitude it takes to stay sane in that industry is insane! You can't talk back to the customer! So what if they called you a cunt? or retard? or useless? You ain't human! You're a bot made to fill a position, and you don't get paid nearly enough for it.

And yet, people are constantly writing stories about the [guy] who opened a small shop/cafe/cornerstore/etc... and changed the lives of everyone in the community! Just because they were good at their jobs! They were respected, supported, and made everyones lives around them richer in turn.

That's what life should be like.

Support your local workers folks. They deserve your respect and support. If it weren't for them, well where would we be?
