“And he killed your stepfather?" Luigi asked, wrapping an arm around me. He always tries to make me feel better. But not now, not this time. This was a major issue.
"We can get through this, I pinky promise.” Luigi added.
I shook my head, “We need to get away, you, me, and Emily.”
Luigi seemed suprised once he realized I was including Emily into our family, “You mean take the three of us on vacation, yeah?”
Rubbing my hand on Luigi’s back, I shook my head.
It was talked about for a few days and that was when we decided to tell our family that we were taking Emily with us on the move to the city.
“You mean you’re taking my daughter?” Gavin defensively said.
Frank looked to me with a sorry look. We hadn’t spoken a word since the night before. I glanced at him and shot him an ugly look before looking back to Gavin,
“Yeah, I’m taking your daughter. It’s better off this way. It needs to be off this way. You could never raise Emily alone, you know tha-..”
“That doesn’t give you authority over MY daughter.”
Luigi banged his hand on the table harshly and pointed to me, then to Emily.
“The girls, they need to get ready for the day, Jen, why don’t you give her a bath while us men take care of this?”

Frank questioned finally, “Why are you guys leaving, now?”
Luigi looked straight at me, wanting me to answer.
“Because I don’t want to live like this right now.”
“Right now?” my father, persay, said.
Luigi looked to me, “Go get her ready for the day.”
I bathed her quietly and she seemed to notice.
“Mama?” Emily looked up at me with her gorgeous hazel eyes.
I smiled faintly, “Yes, baby?”
“Why are we leaving daddy?”
I choked on my own spit, before boldlyanswering, “Because a princess like you doesn’t deserve to live a life like this.
