We're reading Lord of the Flies in English class (almost done actually). It claims to be a book about how humans will always fall to chaos but like their asses are literally orderly? They're more violent and ritualistic yea but they've literally got a little culture and leadership and roles going on like! That's fucking order! The author tried to write a book about how humans are chaotic and savage by nature and then literally kept having the guys who had supposedly abandoned order cooperate and make a little society. We just actually can't stop working together it is baked into us. Book shows the literal opposite of what it says lol

The main thing that separates Golding’s writing style in Lord of the Flies, and Orwell’s writing style in 1984 is that Orwell assumes competency in the reader, and refuses to talk down to them, whereas Golding is on a power trip the whole novel where he’s desperately trying to suck his own dick because he believes himself vastly superior to anyone else to ever exist
