The recent news about the travel ban, the apprehending of illegal immigrants, the wall at the Mexican border etc triggered some cartoon ideas. I feel the way America looks at itself and the image it projects to the world is changing. As a permanent resident, I have always felt welcome in this wonderful country. I admire the at its core optimistic attitude of “Yep, we are awesome, and you are welcome.” To be a beacon for democracy is a worthy ideal to strife for, and I always felt that that is what America did. So all these politics which are about huddling behind a wall and kicking people out are deeply unsettling to me.

“More Birds”
“Bolo Tie”
“Girl from Corinth”
“Tickle”
I did this doodle, and it cracked me up a little. It’s a fine line between happiness and rage.
“Zip”
I really enjoyed doing the strip I posted yesterday, and part of the fun was designing cartoon versions of my daughters. I like the way my youngest is zipping along, so here is her sketch as an encore.

I was looking through the artist biography I had posted on my old website recently. There it states that I live in Longmont with my wife, my daughter and two cats. That’s pretty outdated info by now. So I thought it would be fun to update it as a comic. And then it turned more into a strip about my hometown. Anyway, here it is.
"Woman with Blue Hair”
"Enough Already"
This is my 31st daily post, and I'll bow out with this horrible clash of colors. I had a lot of fun with the challenge to get a picture ready every day. It was also quite time-consuming so I'll reduce my output a bit. I plan to work on the reboot of my website. Also, I'm heading out west for some days of mountain biking.
"At the Lake"
The Nature Center here in Colleyville is a major hang out for grey herons. Beautiful birds, elegant lines. I put him together with this other dude.
I really like this one. I call it "Moving on" because she looks to me like she's coming to terms with getting over some not so easy relationship. But that's just a snippet of the movie in my head about this picture. Feel free to make up your own.

It's snowing today here in Texas.
My computer hard drives are a little like these big grab boxes where I stow away my sketches, photos, paintings etc. After the Russian from my last post I stumbled across this doodle and I thought - wow, he looks somewhat Shakespearean. I also had a sketch of this deranged king and decided to combine them for another literature-inspired post. "When the hurly-burly's done..."
