getting back on track
hey loves! one thing i see a lot is people working on bettering themself (ex. staying consistent with their healthy habits, being productive) but then something happens and they stop for a while. then they feel discouraged and struggle to get back into the hang of things. i want to talk about this, why it happens and how to keep going.
why does this happen?
it can be a lot of factors.Â
your mental health might be struggling, leading to a loss of motivation and thus the lack of mental energy to keep improving
your new healthy routine was so different from your past one that it led you to slip back into your old habits, aka you took on too much
life factors such as being so busy you can’t work on your new habits or other factors that might hinder your ability
ultimately, it’s normal. growth isn’t always linear. we all get led off the right path sometimes, and a big part of self improvement is learning how to overcome this and keep going towards the right path. when you’re getting out of a slump don’t feel discouraged that you went through it, instead look to the future with hope and motivation.
how to get back on the right path
reflect. the first thing is identifying what caused this slump. was it do to mental health? did you take on too much at once? were your goals attainable or overwhelming? before you start again make sure you know what caused the slump to begin, learn from this experience.
learning to go forward. let go of your guilt for going through this. if you learn from every situation then no situation is a waste.
starting small and going forward. when you’re getting back on track always start small so you don’t overwhelm yourself. slowly ease back into healthy habits and stay consistent.Â
i really am a super hopeless romantic. i love writing and receiving love letters, baking heart shaped sweets with pink frosting and heart shaped sprinkles, cooking all my meals with love, walking through nature, doing any little thing to romanticize my day, kissing, hand holding, watching sunsets, running through sprinklers, getting dolled up to go to cafes alone, reading romance novels. i love, love.

How the foods you eat affect your mental health
Nutrient deficiencies: If your diet lacks essential nutrients such as vitamins, minerals, and omega-3 fatty acids, it can affect brain function and lead to mental health problems such as depression, anxiety, and cognitive decline.
Inflammation: Certain foods, such as sugar, refined carbohydrates, and processed foods, can trigger inflammation in the body, which has been linked to depression and other mental health conditions.
Gut health: Your gut is often referred to as your "second brain," as it produces many of the same neurotransmitters as your brain. Eating a diet that is high in fiber and fermented foods can promote a healthy gut microbiome, which has been linked to better mental health.
Blood sugar imbalances: Eating foods that are high in sugar and refined carbohydrates can cause rapid spikes and crashes in blood sugar levels, which can lead to mood swings and fatigue.
Food sensitivities: Some people may have food sensitivities or allergies that can cause symptoms such as brain fog, irritability, and anxiety.
Chemicals and fertilizers can have a negative impact on your mental health in several ways:
Pesticides and herbicides: Exposure to pesticides and herbicides has been linked to an increased risk of depression, anxiety, and other mental health disorders. These chemicals can disrupt the normal functioning of the nervous system and may also affect hormone levels.
Heavy metals: Heavy metals such as lead, mercury, and cadmium can accumulate in the body over time and can have toxic effects on the brain. Exposure to these metals has been linked to cognitive impairments and mood disorders.
Phthalates and bisphenol A (BPA): Phthalates and BPA are chemicals commonly found in plastics and other consumer products. Exposure to these chemicals has been linked to behavioral problems, depression, and anxiety.
Nitrogen-based fertilizers: Nitrogen-based fertilizers are commonly used in agriculture to boost crop yields. However, these fertilizers can leach into groundwater and surface water, leading to contamination of drinking water sources. Exposure to high levels of nitrogen in drinking water has been linked to an increased risk of depression and other mental health disorders.
Reducing exposure to chemicals and fertilizers can help promote better mental health. Eating organic produce, using natural cleaning products, and drinking filtered water can all help reduce exposure to these harmful substances.
