Finally, ‘The Dog Assassins’ is nearly ready to buy
I’m just waiting for Createspace to approve the files and then we’re off. The Emperor’s finally got his dog:Rescued from their Jiang kidnappers, Gelert the legendary Wolfhound and Llewelyn Prince of Wales are rushed across the Chinese Empire to witness first hand what absolute power really means: a fearful nation bending to the erratic whim of a reclusive tyrant. The dark corridors of the Emperor’s palace are soon awash with blood, but who’s really in charge, the eunuchs or the generals? And with plans already in place for the invasion of Jiang, will Llewelyn help Feiyan pull off her outrageous plan to assassinate the Emperor? Join our two friends as they meet astonishing new dog breeds, unearth fresh mysteries, and brave the terrors of Gelert’s increasingly rancid farts in this, the second book of the epic adventures of Llewelyn & Gelert.
Famous author meets legendary wolfhound
I got to meet Terry Brooks yesterday at Auckland's Armageddon Expo. He was there signing hundreds of copies of his latest- my biographer less so. But he found time to come over and have a chat, give me a pat, and he took a wolfhound tongue and bookmark, and promised to buy 'The Dog Hunters' when he got home to Seattle. Which was a bit of a gulp moment. Top bloke.
20 million books sold! I'd better get my skates on if I want 'The Dog Hunters Illustrated' to catch up!

The guy who wrote the book about ME has just said this to the New Zealand Book Council
"You describe The Dog Hunters as ‘the epic retelling of the legend of Gelert the Wolfhound’. Tell us about this legendary dog and why he captured your imagination..."
When I was 6, I read the legend of Gelert the faithful wolfhound on his gravestone in Beddgelert, North Wales, and bawled my eyes out. Gelert’s master, the King, had slewn his old dog thinking he’d killed and eaten his baby, Prince Llewelyn, only to discover that Gelert had killed a ravenous wolf, saving the toddler, who belatedly crawled out safe and sound from under the bloody bedcloths. The legend has it that, having slaughtered his oldest and most loyal friend, the King never smiled again, and the story certainly ruined the rest of my holiday. Years later, I’d been tinkering with a story about a Chinese Emperor who had dogs of different sizes and shapes bred ‘to order’, but I was looking for a more meaningful and personal hook to the story. That’s when it struck me that if the Emperor had heard of the Legend of Gelert, surely he’d want to get his hands on the world’s greatest dog’. It meant rewriting Gelert’s grisly end (yay! I saved Gelert!), but from then on, the story wrote itself and now Gelert has a human protagonist, Prince Llewelyn, now 14 years old, to play with.
Selling dogs at the Auckland PetExpo last weekend.
I dunno- On Wednesday I was being sold in Santa Barbara in California, and this weekend last I was being flogged off in Auckland in New Zealand
! What's a 700 year old Wolfhound to do?
And here are some pictures
Five wolfhounds came to my book signing in Santa Barbara last night. What a racket!

A horrible way to die
I was hiding down in the hold when this happened, and it was only later that I found out how this English Knight popped his clogs. But- a signed postcard of a scene from the book to the first person (who hasn't read the book- please, don't show off) who can guess what happened here...

I'll say this for being kidnapped, you do get to meet some new friends!
We were fast asleep, and all of a sudden this slippery looking chap turned up. Stole a fish!
While I was a sleep, Llewelyn met this funny little bugger called the Lice dog.
Tiny. Hardly bigger than my nose. You can figure out yourself why it's called the lice dog.
Bogart
Irish Wolfhound, 7 months
Hi- it's good to meet a fellow wolfhound nut. Although my wolfhound is fictional. One day, if the book takes off I'll be able to get a bigger place, and then it'll be hounds away!
Another day in the office
Let's see- took a food bribe, got stabbed by several spears and a sword (again) ripped a guy's throat out, fell in the sea trying to save Llewelyn and passed out through loss of blood and several holes in my side.
I'm getting too old for this.
Pleased to meet so many people
Woof! 21,000 looking at my story. That deserves some pics of dogs...
the longest pic of dogs ever

What would you do for a dog that had nearly died for you? Seventeen times?
I've been looking after Llewelyn for 723 years now. I know that's a long time, so loads of hairy things are bound to happen, but there HAS to be a limit to how many times you have to put your neck 0on the line, surely!
David Copperfluff, you are not!
My name is Griffon and I tried to open this door while no one was home without permission!
Where do they go to develop the shamed look? Do they practice in front of mirrors?
