The high point of Gas Mask Camp is the "24 Hours of Enclosure" experience.

People today are spoiled. Wireless coverage is so good in most places that we don't even think about it, but Back In The Day getting a decent signal sometimes meant a lot of work. All that gear helps prevent the person's bio-electrical signals from interfering with what little cell phone signal there is.

Carl - This is the third time this month you've created toxic waste while trying out some recipe hack idea you found online. What was it this time? Canned dough cinnamon buns "the easy way"? "The appetizer your friends will love!"? You need to stop, buddy, just stop. The neighbors are getting tired of going to MOPP-4 every time you get another "Oh wow I want to try this!" idea.

I'm pretty sure this is a genAI picture, but I'm reblogging because it reminds me of how some suit hoods "back in the day" were trim-to-fit. The hood was made with a very small opening that you'd bit by bit enlarge. Put the hood on, see how much you needed to trim, take it off, trim, and repeat. I don't think I've seen one of those in quite a while.

Indeed I wouldn't. Wherever "there" is, it would become my new home. Enough divers there you could always find a buddy, someone to help with a drysuit shoulder zip. Or just go solo - your buds will be there waiting for your return, eager to hear about your adventures, and to tell you about theirs.

One of the little rituals at GearCamp is to get the first-time gas mask/CBRN/MOPP attendees to take a shower in full gear. He'll get the shampoo and soap going after he's nice and wet. Nice and wet with water on the outside, nice and wet with sweat on the inside.

Damn, I love hairy guys. No such thing as "too much". Bearded? Oh yeah - this guy's off to a good start there. And he's nicely muscled, too. But what I really like about this picture is the way his hairiness comes from his back and around the portion of his lats under his armpit. Yeah, right there at the left side of the picture, coming up like flares from the surface of the sun.

A picture that holds so much promise. We don't know if this is before a CBRN exercise, or after - but I like to think it's before. I like to think this man, apparently in full gear, is anticipating getting into that mask, staying in it, working, hot and sweating and loving every minute of it.

I am not a slave, submissive or otherwise. Just not my thing. I don't think I can even fake it.

I'm something of a dinosaur, one of "The Olds", a guy who remembers how things used to be. I remember when full racing leathers like this were seen only on skinny young hairless twinks, zooming around on 750 Ninjas or 1100 Katanas. I rode a VFR 750 for a few years, before the necessary paranoia of riding on public roads with all the fucking homicidal idiots made it more stressful than it was worth - and although I was never a hairless twink I never got around to getting a set of leathers. Oh, yeah, I wanted to - but damn those bike payments were killer. Now I could, if I wanted to, afford leathers - but without the bike, what's the point? Still and all I gotta - I fuckin' love seeing fully grown-ass mature guys, with beards even, in racing leathers. Oh fuck yeah - this guy, with the stogie, beard, and some "Dad bod" going on - ride on, Bubba. Ride that fucker 'til there's no more road.

Obviously it varies from man to man, from different production runs of the cigar, the conditions under which the cigar is stored, but a stogie of that length and ring size takes some commitment to smoke. You light up a stick like that, you're gonna be there a while.

If this was a recruiting poster, and I was a "little bit" younger, I'd be signing up.
