A regional manager of Scoops Ahoy took one look at newly hired Steve (fresh highlights in his hair, lipgloss on) and said: do you want to participate in Scoops Ahoy yearly charity calendar? (said calendar did not exist until a second ago)(it will be wildly successful and reprinted for many years)
Sometime later one Eddie Munson finds the calendar at some underground queer bookshop in Indianapolis and almost dies from lust-induced nose bleed
After months at college, Dustin comes home for spring break without saying anything to Steve.
It's going to be a surprise, he tells his mom, because he knows Steve has been feeling a lot the separation since Dustin left.
So, yeah, Dustin is totally going to surprise him.
He doesn't tell Eddie anything either because he knows Eddie can't keep a single thing from Steve.
So Claudia picks Dustin up at the bus station, and Dustin stays home for a couple of hours before biking to Steve's.
He could've taken his mom's car, but his bike is much easier to hide than a freaking car, so he bikes.
Dustin hides the bike in Steve's backyard, then gets in with his spare key.
Then he waits.
His mom told him Steve usually gets home around seven because he waits Eddie close the record store so they can go home together.
It's a little past six so Dustin still has some time to kill.
He grabs some leftovers in the fridge, wolfing it down in record time then going back to rumage the fridge and cupboards again.
Dustin is lazing around in the living room when he hears a car parking in the driveway. He quickly gets up and hides behind the curtains, peeking around it when he hears the keys on the lock.
The door opens or, better yet, the door slams open with a loud bang, followed by some weird muffled sounds.
The keys hit the floor soon after and then the door slams back shut.
'What the hell??' Dustin thinks, abandoning his hiding place in favor of finding out what that ruckus is all about.
He regrets that decision as soon as he steps into the hallway and is greeted by the sight of Eddie crowding Steve against the front door and humping against his leg like a damn dog as they make out. Steve's hand is deep in Eddie's pants, and Dustin wants to bleach his own eyes.
"Jesus Christ, don't you have any self control?" Dustin yells, covering his eyes with his hands.
Eddie ends up headbutting Steve because of the fucking scare Dustin gives them and Steve almost passes out with mortification.
So, originally I wanted to find a mockup of an ’80s-style poster hanging in a video rental store, since I originally drew it as a poster. But I couldn’t find a decent mockup, and making one from scratch? Yeah, nah, I was way too lazy for that.
I was already this close to saying “screw it” and ditching the whole idea when I randomly stumbled upon a VHS cassette box template. And then BOOM (cue the angelic choir, heavenly spotlight blasting straight into my damn face, divine revelation unlocked)
So yeah. A VHS tape about Fruity Four with a 3-hour movie. Do I dream about something like that? Oh, absolutely. But sometimes dreams are just dreams, and that’s the sad, annoying reality of it.
But hey, at the very least, I can make a damn VHS box for it
