comes the voice from behind the gangly little shit soldier boy caught sight of as he stepped out of the only rinky dink gas station for miles. in a town that's got no stop lights and only has shitty pit stop that's not only a place to fill up but the local post office, restaurant and general store? feels fucking weird to run into a single soul that doesn't look like a product of too much inbreeding reeking of a particularly gut twisting smell of engine grease and gasoline got poured into a vat of frying oil.

this guy's way too polished to fit in here. these locals will eat him alive if he doesn't get the fuck out of dodge before soldier boy puts this place in his rearview. hell. guy's surrounded by the beginning shot of his very own horror movie. starring him and ol' jimbobuncledad manning the place.

[10.] finding herself staring at his mouth and getting caught, because that catgirl still has a crush

elbows propped on the park bench behind them. legs stretched out so that he can hook one booted heel atop its opposite, soldier boy lounges in the middle of the abandoned roadside piss stop that's not seen hide nor hair of anyone living in what looks to be over a decade or more. cracked porcelain sinks that no longer spit out water due to rusty pipes disintegrating into the ground. graffiti marked walls. broken tiles. shattered windows. spider webs absolutely everywhere. the scenery is bleak if you stare ahead.

look up? that's a whole different view.

inky pitch blue-black and a sea of stars so bright and far, they stretch out into a horizon that's gobbled up by the jagged lining of distant mountain ridges in hues of black and gray. middle of nowhere, pennsylvania. bout an hour outside pittsburgh. on their way to lake erie. yet--veering off the turnpike towards a spot only soldier boy seemed to know of? took them off route by a good half hour or more. call it off the beaten path. for a reason.

// i've had my fair share of both. either on tumblr or off! from carol peletier from twd to plenty of ocs to some marvel ladies and anne rice world women and beyond. i freaking love carol above any other character out there. what i find is that it's extremely hard to write female characters on tumblr. especially original characters. as we all know. on forums, they were great. because they're not as vast and wide open as tumblr is so i really enjoyed them there the most!

that said? i did have my fair share of male characters throughout the years on forums too. probably more than the females cause the female characters i do write i tend to stick with and not rotate through as much. like carol for instance? she's been coming and going for writing her since season 1 of twd. if that makes sense?? i don't have as many females from forums but the ones i have? i'm a die hard loyalist towards.

on tumblr? i write mostly males. i've attempted females a handful of times and they don't really take off. now? i write them by request as side projects for friends only that don't mind me being slow and/or casual. i've been considering becca butcher for a while just for a small sideblog project for my lil circle of buds. maybe one day!

and idk. i tend to bond a lot with male characters more often than female ones. not just because they're easier to get partners with on tumblr but many of the stories i fall in love with are circled around male characters. those are the characters i've fallen hard enough for to want to explore and write in their world? bucky barnes, tony stark, dean and sam winchester, soldier boy, daryl dixon, will graham, spencer reid, some characters from anne rice and resident evil, other marvel peeps, far cry 5 ocs, etc. etc. so many fandoms where the stories just reach out and grab me just happen to be stories of male leads. so that's where i tend to go. guess it just depends on the story itself. gender doesn't really come into play when i watch a character's tale unfold and go.. OH I NEED THIS ONE! for reasons ranging from identifying with a part of them to, hell, it'd just be a challenge to try 'em out!

dealing with a god damn suped up nell (thanks for that fucking movie on the shitty motel television hughie forced him to watch cause he didn't put down the extra bucks for pay per view shit) wasn't on his god damn menu today. or yesterday. yet--here he is. stuck with a kid that's god damn painting pictures in the wind.

kill him now. might be putting him out of his misery. though. he's gotta admit. the tiny jab about freezer burn earns a little grin. spunk. he likes people who can dish out enough attitude that it doesn't get annoying. just.. keeps things on the spicy level rather than boring him out of his skull.

hands brace themselves over his knees. seems like he might stand up and leave her there. soldier boy remains seated. "yeah, well, kid. trust me. that shit's hard to shake off." fishing out a joint provided by the walking billboard for self-loathing and regret with an australian accent that makes him feel bad for the whole fucking floating whore and criminal founded rock, he sticks it between his lips and gives it a light. few puffs later, he figures the waiting part'll be more tolerable.

It's a split second before their lips collide, sharp contact with bruising consequences. Lestat kisses him with raw resentment, and for a few moments, he seems to on get angier. Finally, he pries Ben's head away with a similar flourish. "Now your mouth is worth something." Lestat hisses against Ben's mouth, hitting his chest with an open palm to regain distance. "Now keep your mouth SHUT."

oh. well lookie here! instant chill washes up the supe's spine. spreads over broad, freckled shoulders and blossoms in goosebumps up a long neck. grab his hair or face like that? you better fucking mean something behind it. dangerous glint in his eyes warns as such. right before their mouths collide in a kiss that'd crack a normal human's teeth. send them straight to the fucking dentist for some falsies. ben, however? he's free to kiss him back. just as vicious. adds teeth in at the last second. the flesh snagged between twin rows of white as the vampire rips his mouth away. so close. almost left a mark. if he were a lesser person? the smile he gives lestat right after would be bloody. for a second? soldier boy mourns his lost ability to fucking easily bleed. tongue scrapes over his bottom lip. snags the corner. eyebrows twitch. shaking his head and clicking that tongue against the roof of his mouth, he steps forward after recovering from the shove that, honestly, did rattle him off balance for a blink.
