we can assume he was planning on leaving without saying goodbye but he just couldn't bring himself to do that, yet he also couldnt bare to face sakura because it'd be impossible for him to leave if he had to face him -

so he chose to say goodbye to just nirei instead since the three of them were the closest and maybe a part of him did want closure and thought that saying goodbye would give him that -

- and we know he wasn't originally planning on fighting nirei, just saying "goodbye" but, we also know that nirei isn't one to back down and surely suo knows that too, he had to at the very least have known that there was a high possibility of nirei trying to fight him regardless of the outcome and that if he did fight nirei, knowing what he knows from the time he spent at furin, he had to have on some level known they'd come after him for hurting nirei -

which leads me to believe on some level, maybe even subconsciously, suo wants this to happen, he wants furin to chase after him, to challenge red chanpuru, maybe theres a part of suo that wants sakura to save him
