Yoko Littner Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann Manufacturer: Pearl Number of Parts: 33, including base. Custom base, additional hair strands, bullet casings, battle-damaged clothes, alternate color scheme, modified bikini, and modified hair. Tamiya Acrylics, Testors Enamels, Jaquard Pearl Pigments.

Customer has had two other Yoko kits commissioned by me, so we went for something a little different this time.  Customer requested blue stockings to match her shorts, battle-damaged clothing, sandy base.  Despite being 1/4 scale, the sculpt was rather bland, having the bikini straps sculpted flush against her body, no texture on the hair on her head, and no clothing detailing on the stockings.  Therefore, I modified all of it; removed and added new bikini straps that sit off the body, added tears and puffed skin onto the stockings, sculpted hair detail.  Base was custom cut to fit the large kit, and modeled with a skidded sand effect.  I also crafted miniature bullet casings for added effect and detail on the base. Jeanne d'Arc Fare/Apocrypha Manufacturer: Volks (Charagumin) Number of Parts: 75, not including base. Customer-selected color scheme, very subtle shading/highlight, replaced resin chains with real metal chains, created scratchbuilt extensive destroyed base.

Commission finished a few days ago, for a first-time GK buyer. Customer requested very subtle shading/highlight on the kit, similar to the Volks prototype, with a destroyed church base, but leaving Jeanne and the cross pristine, as a testament to her unwavering faith.

This kit was a practice in reservation on my end, as I usually shade far more intensely, but the client wanted very smooth, subtle shading/highlight. The kit itself had several pieces, and was a bit of a pain to assemble in some areas, but the cast quality was gorgeous. The base took about as many hours as the kit build itself, but the end result was definitely worth it. Used Alcad II Polished Aluminum on her armor, with a wash and satin finish.

Soil Original Character Sculptor: Klondike Number of Parts: 18 Modified color scheme, additional frosted base. Tamiya Acrylics and Testors Enamels Completed commission for a client, another sculpt by Klondike; this is one of the counterpart kits to Erde. Pretty simple build, though the suspenders gave me a bit of trouble in the end, despite my having test-fitted them three times during prep.  The front buckles did not reach her shorts, so I managed to stretch one of them into place, but the other had to be snipped and a piece of styrene added to lengthen it.

Customer and I chose the dark green color scheme, to contrast Erde's dark red. The base included with the kit was too thin to balance her, so I layered it with an acrylic base to increase stability, doing a wash on the tan sections of the base; this base is reversed colors of Erde's, to give another layer of contrast between them.  Also included a stacked transparent base in deep green/white, with a frosted appearance. Played with some satin on the brown bits while keeping everything else fairly matte. It's almost invisible in the photos, though more apparent in person, but I used a light pearl finish in the hair for luster.

Commissioned kit

Should’ve been done with this a while back but lots of issues kept popping up.  Went with a candy red bike per client’s request, made a custom fabric rifle strap that attaches via magnets, replaced door hinges with mini nut and bolt, replaced internal springs in engine.   It’s been a huge effort and I’m pretty damn happy with how she came out.
