Lola is a 13 year old rowdy tomboy. She lives with her mom and often would fight battles for money with her Umbreon and Sharpedo despite being young, and often won too. They were well off, but Lola didn’t want to make their mother worry about her fresh off the heels of a divorce. For her 13th birthday, their mother and Kukui arranged for them to start the island challenge and she chose Poplio as her starter. She becomes close friends and rivals with Hau, as well as close with Lillie, developing feelings for her, but never acting on them as they always felt she had enough to worry about. After becoming champion and everything calming down after the ultra beast invasion, Lola ends up being pulled into an alternate Alola that’s been taken over by multiple evil organizations, as well as learning it’s champion has gone missing…

Wren comes from a small town farm in Unova where he’s lived his whole life, mostly sheltered from the world both due to overprotective parents and his own anxiety struggles, his only friend being a Leafeon he named Sage who he met while exploring the forest as a boy. Once he turns 35, he decides he wants more from life and sets out on the badge quest. Although obtaining all 8 badges however, he never challenged the league after his rocky final encounter with Team Plasma. 4 years passed, and Wren decided to move to Alola for a change of scenery and to help with preservation of the Pokémon and plant life under the guide of Kukui, who convinces him to try the island challenge (despite being very over 11 years old)
